Season Four just started here in Ireland. Anybody want a commentary :) ?

One good thing, the intro no longer stars with a dog's butt.

I do!!! I'm a big fan, and hope that this new season is better than the last. Too much death last time. Glad to hear about the intro. LOL!

Thanks for not giving anything away. :) Looking forward to watching. The new episode doesn't air here until January, so we have a long wait.

I'm enjoying the departure from last season so far. My son and I watched the first three seasons together on Amazon during the first half of the summer and have now watched the first two episodes of Season 4 on Amazon as well. It's hard waiting a week between each one now - lol! My son told me that we're seeing the full BBC version and that the series that airs in the States on a different schedule is abridged. We're the only ones we've talked to so far that have done this - everyone else is waiting til January. (We got rid of our cable almost a year ago) So I'll keep my lips sealed! I hate to think though that anyone is missing any part of this - I find it captivating. I especially hope they haven't cut any of Maggie Smith's scenes for PBS. I have learned never to be taking a bite of food or a drink of anything when she is on screen- lol.

Gwen, well, yes!! My son is the one with the Amazon acct, but I will ask him any questions you may have. Come to think of it, we started in May and that's a long time for my memory these days - lol - and I'm thinking now he got the first couple seasons from the library or he rented them or something, but I know for sure we watched the third on Amazon, and that's where we are now. But since you're all caught up to season 4 anyhow, you should be good to go. :)

I'm amazed that Amazon is showing season four virtually live. It was only shown in the UK Sunday night and on here tonight. Surprised PBS is allowing it since they don't start till Jan. Amazon are even more amazing than I thought.

Could you get a link from your son please, I can't find it.

The Amazon link you posted is for Kindle, which I don't have...so, maybe there is a link to the BBC's PBS or something. I'll have to do some Googling. :) I"ll post here if I find a direct link. :)

You have to be in the UK (or have an ISP mask) to watch that link. I think the UTV links works for Ireland - going to try it now. That way we're not bound to Wednesday evenings.

Gwen, I didn't even realize I had posted a link - I think it did it automatically. I'll be happy to post one - will have to wait til my son gets back.

I see now that I can't access it either. :(

Thanks Pam! That would be great. Hopefully I can get it to work. :) Hulu might work as well, just haven't tried to find it there yet.

Ok, we have been passing like ships in the night for a while - he's working two jobs and sometimes his hours get weird. I'm headed out and he's up now and headed to the shower - he's going to leave the link for me in a message and I'll pass it on as soon as I can. I did find out though that what we didn't see from the library we saw for free on Amazon Prime with his trial membership and that that can be done by anyone who wants to see it or needs to catch up, through Season 3. However, I had just assumed we were doing what we had done before because it looked the same but he told me Amazon has a contract with PBS to show it sometime after the fact but not yet. His girlfriend told him about the site we are watching it on for free now - again, link as soon as I can later today - sorry it has taken so long - gotta run now - lol. :wavey:

Guessing it's going to be a 'file sharing' site where viewer records and post it in violation of copyright law. Viewers are not breaking the law however.

Roger, to tell you the truth when I found this out I had a funny feeling and immediately asked him if it was legal. He said well it has to be - anybody can access it. I can honestly tell you he and his girlfriend would not want to be doing anything illegal, including copyright. . I imagine she got it from her mom who loves Downton Abbey and would also be the last to do something knowingly illegal. However, I have the info messaged from him now, and am going to post it to you and Gwen in a message. I know nothing about this sort of thing except some things are illegal/or infringing. If you could, please tell me what you think and I'll take it from there. Thank you!

I found a free, legal online site that allows you to watch Downton Abbey's latest season!

    1. Click the link: http://www.ustv.cc/

    2. You have to create a password and join (free!!)

    3. Click on Downton Abbey in the list of shows.

    4. Then make sure you click on the "NA" (for North America) line after the title instead of the "EUR" because we are in the US. Unless you are in Europe, then of course click "EUR" instead.

    5. Watch the free Episodes! I'm sure the most recent one will be free after a few weeks. :) I just watched Season 4, Episode 1 with no problems at all.

This was posted by someone on the Downton Abbey facebook page. Woo hoo!!
