I thank God for Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist group.

As long as they're free, I am too.

As much as I disagree with WBC and Phelps, Aaron is quite correct.

If that's all we do, no. But if that's all we do, we aren't doing what Jesus did, either.

We denigrate and skewer those who practice homosexuality and those who support them, but what are we doing as a church to win them to Christ? Nothing, for the most part. Until we do, we are more part of the problem than part of the solution.

I agree with you, but the decision (if it is hate speech) would be made by liberal govt officials- who have the power to make the official decision.

And I suppose if that is the price to pay for preaching the truth - than so be it.

They should lose their audience as well. It's a freak show.

First there are no circumstances in which Westboro or any other church can or has lost their tax exempt status. They can lose their 501c3 but churches are exempt without it.

Second as much as I despise Westboro what have they done to warrant losing it.

As you, I also despise WBC- but I suppose the answer to your question would be - "they preach hate".

However - if the govt decides they preach hate speech - how long before the govt decides what we preach is considered hate speech ?

I do not support hate speech laws or enforcing them.
