L - Limited Atonement

    Did Jesus suffer just so much for just so many, only shedding blood for a particular number of elect individuals?

    Or

    Is the atonement of Christ provisional, like the snake lifted in the dessert? Or the Passover sacrifice? Or all the other atonement sacrifices of the OT, where it is provided for WHOEVER responds to God's words in faith? Anyone could look to the snake to be healed. Anyone could wipe the blood over their door to be passed-over. These are examples of PROVISIONAL ATONEMENT, not limited atonement. Why would it change and where is the proof that it did change?

    What say you?

    Christ's once and only eternal sacrifice was made on behalf of His elect only. Reprobates have no part of His atonement. Just ask Judas,Essau,Demas,Alexander the coppersmith,the former residents of Sodom and Gomorrah,the "world" that perished in the great flood and countless other examples.

    Nothing provisional or conditional about the atonement whatsoever.

    So, your proof that Christ's sacrifice wasn't provisional is to point to some people who didn't benefit from that provision? Maybe you are not understanding the concept of 'provisional atonement?'

    As in an economic debate, if the term capitalist or capitalism is used, you are already acceding to Marxist terminology. Here, the concept is reconciliation, with the question, did Christ's death on the cross provide the means of reconciliation to all mankind.

    When Christ died, His sacrifice provided reconciliation to the whole world, but no one received that reconciliation. We as ambassadors of Christ are told to beg, beseech, plead with the lost to "be reconciled to God."

    Those whose faith God credits as righteousness are placed spiritually in Christ where they receive the reconciliation through the circumcision of Christ, arising in Christ holy and blameless and righteous, reconciled to God.
