We'll know Amnerican gridiron football has arrived in London when Mr. William Wales takes young Master Wales to a game. No doubt they'll sit in the Royal box.

The NFL is going to play not one, but three games in London next year. To me, that's ridiculous. It robs three teams of a home game, the games are usually bad because of all 90 players and the coaching staffs suffering jet lag, and accomplishes nothing but making a few bucks -- a pittance, as the British would say -- in game rights for a London sports promoter.

If you're gonna play games in London, put an expansion team there, for cryin' out loud, and stop screwing around with the regular season schedule. Then again, I think expanding the NFL to Europe is an equally dismal idea, so how about just dropping the whole thing in the first place?

I contend it is only popular in London because it is such a novelty. I think three matches may wear that novelty thin.

I've been watching the World Series on an internet feed from Manchester, I assume, due to the commercials that are shown. (I don't have cable TV, so I have to find a feed from somewhere, and Manchester is a very reliable one).

Is baseball pretty popular over there ?

There are also 10,000 or so U.S. troops in England + their dependents.

As well as other Americians who may be living in the UK.

And I'm sure some GI's in Germany would make the trip to London for the game.

Would be interesting to see the stat as to how many Americians attend the game - as well as the % of the total attendence.

It is played in both the UK and here in Irleand, but fans are mostly family and friends. I went to a match between two Dublin teams this autumn and enjoyed the fun of guys playing just for the 'craic' and even at their own expense. These were the best two teams in Irleand and there may have been 25 fans at a game with no admission charge.

I get the impression it is about the same in the UK.

I have never met a MLB fan here in Ireland.

The NFL is pretty popular in the pubs on Sunday nights. The games played in London have had pretty full stadiums but I think it is the novelty.

The NFL had a European league for a couple of years. It was awful.

I stopped caring about the NFL when the Eagles hired the dog killer and I started to despise the NFL when every game became more about breast cancer than football. And now news comes that the Ravens are going to partner with the Dirtbag-in-Chief to promote Obamacare.

Until somebody can invent a time machines and bring the Birmingham Stallions back, I'm strictly a college guy now.

Auburn is my team (my alma mater) and South Carolina and Rutgers are my two fallback teams. An odd combination, I know.
