    By Chuck Todd, NBC News

President Obama said Thursday that he is "sorry" that some Americans are losing their current health insurance plans as a result of the Affordable Care Act, despite his promise that no one would have to give up a health plan they liked.

"I am sorry that they are finding themselves in this situation based on assurances they got from me," he told NBC News in an exclusive interview at the White House.

"We've got to work hard to make sure that they know we hear them and we are going to do everything we can to deal with folks who find themselves in a tough position as a consequence of this."

For more from President Obama's interview with Chuck Todd tune in to NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams at 6:30 pm ET.

Of course he is. All the liberal news agency's are nailing him and his poll numbers are in the toilet. First he lies and says he never said it then he apologizes. This guy is schizophrenic

The worst part is, his mindless drone supporters will only remember the apology, not the lies, and will raise holy heck when Congress tries to repeal/gut/delay the ACA.

That is why the Republicans better come up with an articulate, conservative, and charismatic leader for 2016. He or she is going to have to point out the lies, and paint a very clear picture of Obama. That means someone other than Chris Christy and the array of other RINOs like Romney and McCain.

My fondest hope is that Biden gets the Democratic nomination.

I'll agree about Christy--no way no how. Biden will never get the DEM nomination. Hillary is made of Teflon and libs think she is Einstein in drag. I'm hoping for a Ronald Regan to emerge for the GOP. Maybe Ted Cruz. I wish Rick Perry wasn't damaged goods, I really liked him.

One of the best suggestions I have heard to date, among some other acceptable ones like Rand Paul, is Ben Carson. I learned about him from one of our posters justnumbers.

I like Carson but I don't know him well enough and he is a rookie when it comes to politics and he has no political experience or business experience. Nice guy but not a President.

I heard part of Obum"s apology, as much as I could stomach.. There was no apology other than he got "burnt" by the abomination of a website. It is not in Obum's makeup to apologize. He epitomizes arrogance. He doesn't give speeches, he lectures the dumb electorate and they will fall for it. The country or the Congress will never hold Obama accountable for anything because he is considered black. He has ignored the Constitution and laws of this country. He has lied repeatedly to the people.

I suggest that Congress should impeach and convict the white half of Obama for high crimes and misdemeanors!

I have heard Ben Carson on several occasions. First time I saw him was at the prayer breakfast this year where he took Obama to task for Obamacare. Carson was raised with a brother by a single mother. He says he was a nominal student until his mother, who could barely read, cut out the TV and made him and his brother read and write a report on one book each week.

As the result of his mothers discipline {For lack of a better word.} he became a neuro-surgeon and head of the pediatric neuro-surgery at Johns Hopkins. He received the medal of freedom from Bush in 2008 {I believe}. He and his wife have established a foundation to help educate young people.

Dr. Carson is a most remarkable man. I have learned things just listening to him on TV. I am not sure he would make a good candidate but he might make a remarkable president. He is very soft spoken and though he is not afraid to call a spade a spade he does it most mannerly. He reminds me somewhat of Thomas Sowell, and perhaps Justice Clarence Thomas, in his speech and personality, at least on camera.

Dr. Carson has rightly said that the worst thing about Obamacare is that it destroys our freedom. I may be wrong but I believe he also claimed that the democrats were establishing a "plantation" mentality in the country. I heartily agree. He favors health savings accounts as do I and indicated at the prayer breakfast that the Bible establishes a precedent for the income tax, the tithe.

Got a little carried away but I have not seen anyone on the national scene since Reagan that impresses me as much.

As for Republican candidates I could easily vote for Carson though I don't believe he would run. I like several governors including Scott Walker of Illinois, the lady Governors of Oklahoma and New Mexico, John Kasich, probably several others.

I wonder if Nancy Pelosi is happy? I wonder if Obama is angry with Pelosi?

Pelosi said we had to pass the bill in order to know what's in the bill; Obama made statements that we now find out weren't supported by the bill.

Let's assume that this huge honkin' piece of legislation was drafted the same way as other large documents: Pieces were "divvied out." One person or group was given a section to work on; another person or group was given another section; and so on. As such, we could possibly assume that each person/group was pretty familiar with what they were writing; but not very familiar, or knew little or nothing about the others.

Let's assume that the ACA was handled just as healthcare.gov was: whoever was "managing" the project didn't have all the information from all the groups. They had the "overview" of what each group was working on. When working on something this large, every little detail is hard for any single person to remember....

So let's assume, for the sake of assumption, that President Obama didn't knowingly lie, because he assumed that what he was saying about being able to keep your insurance plan was a true statement--because he was going off the information from the person/people "managing" the ACA project.

Which brings us back to Pelosi's statement that we had to pass the ACA in order to know what was in the ACA--which doubly makes Obama look bad because he was stating fact as he knew it (we assume), which turned out to be based on not knowing what was actually in the ACA.

I offer this argument about assumptions because, to assume that Obama actually was aware of all the details, although Pelosi stated that we didn't know all the details and couldn't know all the details until we actually were required to implement all the details, would mean that he flat-out lied to the people he assured he was trying to take care of.

But I also offer this argument about assumptions, because I think there was a huge pattern of assumptions made throughout this thing, and I think most of us know what "assume" means when you break it down into smaller parts....

So I wonder how Pelosi feels, now that she's placed the president in a most embarrassing position because we're finding out that the president didn't know what was in his own bill? Or that if he did, he flat-out lied to the whole world about what was in his bill?

Obama Officials In 2010: 93 Million Americans Will Be Unable To Keep Their Health Plans Under Obamacare

Mid-range estimate: 51% of employer-sponsored plans will get canceled

But Carney’s dismissal of the media’s concerns was wrong, on several fronts. Contrary to the reporting of NBC, the administration’s commentary in the Federal Register did not only refer to the individual market, but also the market for employer-sponsored health insurance.

Section 1251 of the Affordable Care Act contains what’s called a “grandfather” provision that, in theory, allows people to keep their existing plans if they like them. But subsequent regulations from the Obama administration interpreted that provision so narrowly as to prevent most plans from gaining this protection.

“The Departments’ mid-range estimate is that 66 percent of small employer plans and 45 percent of large employer plans will relinquish their grandfather status by the end of 2013,” wrote the administration on page 34,552 of the Register. All in all, more than half of employer-sponsored plans will lose their “grandfather status” and become illegal. According to the Congressional Budget Office, 156 million Americans—more than half the population—was covered by employer-sponsored insurance in 2013.

Another 25 million people, according to the CBO, have “nongroup and other” forms of insurance; that is to say, they participate in the market for individually-purchased insurance. In this market, the administration projected that “40 to 67 percent” of individually-purchased plans would lose their Obamacare-sanctioned “grandfather status” and become illegal, solely due to the fact that there is a high turnover of participants and insurance arrangements in this market. (Plans purchased after March 23, 2010 do not benefit from the “grandfather” clause.) The real turnover rate would be higher, because plans can lose their grandfather status for a number of other reasons.

How many people are exposed to these problems? 60 percent of Americans have private-sector health insurance—precisely the number that Jay Carney dismissed. As to the number of people facing cancellations, 51 percent of the employer-based market plus 53.5 percent of the non-group market (the middle of the administration’s range) amounts to 93 million Americans.

I'll accept his apology if he confesses to treason and turns himself in for justice to be done upon him.

Obama to Cantor in 2010: 8 to 9 million Americans will lose coverage

President Barack Obama admitted in 2010 that 8 or 9 million Americans would lose their existing health insurance plans under Obamacare.

“The 8 to 9 million people that you refer to that might have to change their coverage — keep in mind out of the 300 million Americans that we’re talking about — would be folks who the CBO, Congressional Budget Office, estimates would find the deal in the exchange better,” Obama said to Rep. Eric Cantor at a February 25, 2010 White House summit on health insurance regulation.
