Salty, I agree with many of the ten core principles. However I do not believe that most of the Tea Party members really believe in all of them, but publish them as good politics. Here are 15 values from their web page. Items 4, 8, 12 and 15 are so subjective as to be meaningless.

Also, there are some beliefs I agree with but realize they have to be worked toward rationally, not with a meat axe approach. The Tea Party does not seem to realize this.

One cannot honestly and reasonably support Obama and his agenda or wealth redistribution in any fashion and say you believe in the 10 core values. It is just not possible. The ten core values are diametrically opposed to anything Obama or any liberal wants.

Off topic again ... guess you are just trying to derail another thread.

How about staying on the topic?

The Tea started under Bush because of all the spending. They were against all the liberal spending under Bush and are vehemently against under Obama. No change there.

and dont forget Congress has a big say in spending.

Will be interesting to see how the T.E.A. party does in NY during the 2014 elections.

In 2010 Carl Paladino ran for Governer of NY, his vote total was:

    Party----------------votes------% *1-------% *2
    Republican-------1,290.082-----83.3-----27.1
    Conservative-------232,281-----15.0-------4.9
    T.E.A. *3------------25,821------1.5-------0.5

1- % of vote recieved by Paladino
    2) % of votes recieved Statewide (of all parties)
    3) Tax Enough Already Party

The election was won by Cuomo with 2,9 million votes (61% of votes). Cumo was cross-endorsed by the Independence Party (146,648) and the Working Families Parrty ( 154,853)

For full details of the NY Governers race:

I'm good on most of the points. Don't fully agree with these points, or at least in the way they are presented.

    2. Eliminate the National Debt -
The goal should be to severely reduce the national debt to sane levels.

    3. Eliminate the National Debt - All deficit spending must be eliminated immediately.
Really? Deficit spending must be eliminated, yes, but cold turkey? Don't think so. Let's have a constitutional amendment requiring a balanced budget (except in time of war) and a rational 10 year plan to get the budget into balance.

    8. Believe in the People -
Not sure what this means. Most people are uneducated in economics, the constitution, history, etc. I would not want "the people" to be making long range policy for the U.S., when most can't stay out of debt or make smart decisions on many things.

    9. Avoid the Pitfalls of Politics
If you look at the full text of the point it specifically addresses the Tea Party membership. Since I'm not a member it does not resonate with me.

Deficit spending must come to an end. It has been abused and will destroy this country.

Of course it must end. Tea Party is saying it must end today. Which I interpret to mean they would stop spending more money than they are taking in TODAY. That means that every government expenditure would be slashed before noon today. Is that a rational approach to the problem?

Unfortunatley liberals will want to paint such an idea as not reasonable. The problem is the blame needs to go toward those who created the problem not those who want to fix it. But, those who want to cover up their misdeeds will deflect and blame it on the Tea Party.

It has to be stopped. Not because the Tea Party says so but because it is causing irreparable damage. When what is done that is wrong is so extreme then the fix will always produce great consequences. But the blame is on the deficit spending not the fix. And we will all suffer for it. And the amount of consequences reveals the level of error that created the consequences.

Well, yeah, stopping deficit spending today, November 15th, by permanently slashing programs across the board before the day is out IS unreasonable and dangerous to the economy. If this is truly the Tea Party's position then they are guilty of treason.

    Not to mention it's immoral.

"Deficit spending is immoral" is the dumbest thing I've posted?

Or "immediately slashing spending to eliminate deficit spending is treason"?

    Or both?

I didn't say that slashing spending immediately was immoral, I said that it would be treason. I said that deficit spending was immoral.

Now you tell me: if spending on defense were to be cut immediately by 40% across the board, how is that not treasonous? Treason being defined as "giving aid and comfort to the enemy" and "weaken the power of the United States to attack or resist attack by an enemy."

They said "immediately," followed by the this phrase:

That puts a different light on it. Any American business seeking the rational action of balancing its budget so there is more income than outgo would prioritize spending to accomplish two things: 1) Assure employees are properly compensated, which would include an affordable free-market health plan, and 2) pay expenses in a timely manner while making certain the materials, products, technologies, and services essential to smooth and efficient business operation are on hand.

For the government, that means being able to efficiently provide the services the Constitution requires of them, and nothing more. What does that mean, from the practical standpoint of the Constitution? Not much power is actually given the government under the Constitution. In fact, there are only 20 enumerated powers in the Constitution granted to the U.S. government.

    • Coin and regulate the value of money.
    • Administer the seat of government.
    • Tax.
    • Borrow.
    • Spend.
    • Punish crimes on the high seas.
    • Establish federal courts.
    • Pass copyright and patent laws.
    • Raise and finance armed forces.
    • Establish bankruptcy laws.
    • Establish rules for citizenship.
    • Call up state militias.
    • Administer federal lands.
    • Establish rules for the armed forces.
    • Establish a postal system.
    • Regulate commerce.
    • Standardize weights and measures.
    • Punish counterfeiting.
    • Declare war.
    • Pass laws to implement the above.
Kinda makes you stop and wonder what the heck they're doing up there in Washington all those days of the year, doesn't it? Show me were there is a responsibility for education, health and human services, agriculture, labor, housing, urban development, transportation, energy? And many of the other departments are actually taking responsibilities that were broken off from the original major cabinet-level departments of State, Treasury, War, and the Attorney-General. Those were the only four cabinet posts Washington believed he needed. The first president didn't even appoint a commerce secretary, believing the executive and legislative branches should only act as referees in commercial and industrial disputes between companies, and states, while maintaining a free trade atmosphere within the country and only limiting international imports in the same fashion any given country might try to regulate international commerce by limiting U.S. exports.

In addition, there are other agencies that have been created that actually usurped, with the permission of Congress and a sitting president, the powers that rightly belong with one of the three branches of government. The Federal Reserve, for one, is a semi-private entity that has little to no oversight in making monetary and economic policy. It is not responsible to anyone in its actions, directed under the Federal Reserve Act, in setting monetary policy, and that policy does not have to be approved by the President or anyone else in the executive or legislative branches of government, the Fed does not receive funding appropriated by the Congress, and the terms of the members of the Board of Governors span multiple presidential and congressional terms.

This is unique among central banks in the world, and it is why the Federal Reserve System is so dangerous, in that it has no accountability to anyone other than bankers and investment houses, though ostensibly it is supposed to also consider the general public's opinions when it set policy. I've never been asked for an opinion by the Fed, has anyone else here been asked? Didn't think so.

That's a bit of a digression, but it emphasizes the point that the Tea Party is right: We need to cut deficit spending immediately. We need to balance the federal budget immediately. We need to eliminate the national debt, though I don't expect that to be done immediately. And we need to reduce the size of government, and put the power of the government bank in the hands of the people, where the founders intended it to lie.

Look I quoted you in full. I have not accused you of saying anything other than what was in your post. By the way in the post I said was dumb you said nothing about the immorality of deficit spending.

I did not say anything about slashing defense spending. I only referenced over all spending.
