    Interesting idea.

    Strong's Concordance:

bap-tid'-zo; to make whelmed (that is, fully wet); used only (in the New Testament) of ceremonial ablution, especially (technically) of the ordinance of Christian baptism: - baptist, baptize, wash.

ek-klay-see'-ah; a calling out, that is, (concretely) a popular meeting, especially a religious congregation (Jewish synagogue, or Christian community of members on earth or saints in heaven or both): - assembly, church.

Sprinkling, Dipping and Plunging away sin

One must keep in mind the fact that those who gathered the concordances were pedo-baptists, as were the King James translators. The Gk word for wash is not baptize. Some scholars say the translation should be: immerse, dip or plunge.

While water may wash soil and such, only innocent blood washes sin.

Millions have died applying this fact to daily life.

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

True, but immersion of the believer is what the bibles specifies, as that act is a symbol of new life already in Christ!

The point: our jargon, definitions yea, even our theology are based on our paradigm of baptism. Baptism either saves or it does not. It cannot be all of the above. This has been watered down by the paedo-baptists.

Translations and concordances to date have a paedo-baptist bias.

This has created serious confusion in the world of religion.

God is not the author of confusion.

    The Bride is not confused.

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Update: it seems this has already been done. The American Baptist Union published revisions of the KJV in 1850, 1864, 1865, 1891, and 1912. See here: http://www.bible-researcher.com/abu.html

"In keeping with the usual Baptist interpretation of the Greek word baptizo, the word "immerse" is substituted for "baptise," and "immersion" for "baptism." But many other changes unrelated to distinctive Baptist teachings were also made. And so, for example, in Matthew 28:19 there are several changes aside from the rendering of baptizo: "Go ye, therefore, and disciple all nations, immersing them into the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit" (cp. the KJV "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost"). Matthew 5:16 has "Thus let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works" instead of "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works." In Matthew 6:27 "being anxious" is substituted for "taking thought." In John 10:30 "I and the Father are one" replaces "I and my Father are one." Romans 6:17 says "But thanks be to God; for ye were the servants of sin; but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered to you," instead of "But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you." In Revelation 4:6, 7, 8 "living creatures" replaces "beasts." Aside from the "immerse" alterations, the revisions are not very controversial, and they obviously tend to improve the accuracy or clarity of the version."

    However...

"As we noted above, one item of particular interest to the Baptists responsible for this version is the translation of the word baptizo, which they take to mean immerse. Hence the word "immerse" is used consistently throughout the version...

..."The word baptism, must be supplanted by 'immersion,' though it be the occasion of immersing the couches of the Jews before they could be considered fit for occupancy ... and though it involve the gratuitous assumption implied in the passage: 'And coming from the market, except they immerse themselves, they do not eat' (Mark vii.4); and the preposterous translation: 'And the Pharisee, seeing it, wondered that he did not first immerse himself (aor. passive.) before dinner' (Luke xi. 38)."

And so the first attempt was not particularly valuable.

There's a viewable PDF of the 1912 edition here.

Perhaps the earliest edtion of the American Bible Union Version New Testament that may have included only the four Gospels was printed by the American Bible Union in 1862. A reprint of that 1862 edition that I have has the subtitle: "The common English version, corrected by the final committee of the American Bible Union."

The complete New Testament was printed in 1865 or 1866, and I have seen a 1866 copy. I have a copy of an actual edition of it that was printed in 1874, and its title page states that it is the "Second Revision."

Some revised translations of some individual books of the Old Testament was also printed by the American Bible Union.

The 1912 Holy Bible printed by the American Baptist Publication Society ["an Improved edition] was based in part on the Bible Union Version.

There was an earlier edition of the KJV's New Testament that used "immerse" that was printed in 1850, but it was not printed by the American Bible Union. This New Testament entitled "The Commonly Received Version of the New Testament with several hundred emendations" was edited by two Baptists Spencer Cone and William Wyckoff. An edition of it was also printed in 1851.

Nathaniel Scarlett also used "immerse" in his 1798 translation of the New Testament printed in London.

There had also been even an earlier revision of the KJV that used "immerse" that was published in Philadelphia for Baptist David Bernard in 1842.

God has preserved His Word and His Bride in spite of Satan's best efforts to destroy them. The Word is even available in Swahili. Man has failed miserably in all of his religious endeavors. Man still cannot figure out whether he is saved by grace or works--some like an admixture.

"Salvation is of The Lord", regardless of the confusion foisted by the most right, reverend, clerics-- past and present.

"All of our righteousness is as filthy rags".

The schism between the pedobaptists and the antipedobaptists will probably not be resolved until Jesus returns. It will not be debatable.

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
