Well, if our beloved POTUS chose RW to pray at his first inauguration, I guess old Rick can't be all that bad. :smilewinkgrin:

 

I thought his answer was wishy washy. Just state that such things are sin and leave it there. I do not have a lot of respect for this man and his wishy washy stance on many things.

 

There was nothing wishy washy about his answer. The fact you state you do not respect him shows that no matter what he says or how he says it, you will still find fault.

 

Seems pretty clear to me.

What he said:

"I believe that what Scripture says is that sex is for a man and a woman in marriage.”

"Warren said, “Well, I don't get to change what God says is right and what God says is wrong. And I think God is real clear that all sex outside of marriage is wrong."

Is this what you would have him say:

"I believe that what Scripture says is that sex is for a man and a woman in marriage. Anything else is sin.”

"Warren said, “Well, I don't get to change what God says is right and what God says is wrong. And I think God is real clear that all sex outside of marriage is a sin. Anyone having sex outside of marriage are sinners on their way to Hell."

 

Better yet:

"Anyone having sex outside of marriage are sinners ON A GREASED SLIDE to Hell, and God laughs and laughs at their impending destruction because Christians are right."

Its not often he says anything that is worthwhile but this is one of those few moments.

 

Agreed....

....he could have followed Obama [from the debate he hosted] and said that "This subject is above my paygrade!" Glad he made a stand, and I think Dr. Bob feels the same, since he claims to be a Warren fan and friend! Hve a Merry Christmas at Saddleback Dr. Bob! You will thousands to surround you and keep you warm in our winter like weather! :laugh:

 

Speaking of the Single Saint!

....why has he not chimed in on this? I always appreciate his views on RW. Personally speaking, when a person is able to delude the many with a message that is 99% truth, it is always the 1% that scares me. And while RW is usually spot on, his book, "The Purpose-Driven Life" is a popular study for the emergent church folk!

These folks are way off base, and if they like this book and elevate the author to the place of celebrity, then we need to be righteously concerned about that 1% error rate, as that is what will lead many down the highway to hell, and not down the Narrow Path! If they plan there ministry around the PDL, we need to question the scriptural validity of what is written in this book!

Personally speaking, our church held a 3 month in-home Bible study, and whe we got there I was mildly surprised that the study material was RW's book! We were being expected to purchase and read the book, and we told upfront that the church leadership had prayerfully decided to pattern the new direction of our church on RW's PDL!

Well, I had never heard of him or his book, so I stuck around for several weeks, to see what all the hoopla was all about. But like the reviewers from "Let Us Reason Ministries" say, "Warren comes close to giving the gospel in his book but never fully explains who Jesus is; nor why our sin separates us from a Holy God, nor does he concentrate on the resurrection. This is why so many consider this kind of teaching as gospel-lite. Because of this weakness of it hinders some of the essentials for understanding the gospel. The “new paradigm” seeker friendly churches (AKA Schullerism and others) diminishes teaching on sin and concentrates more on the felt needs of the people." I felt that the book was missing complete truths, especially about the need to repent, not just recieve Christ!

The emergent church is filled to overflowing with younger folks who have recieved Jesus, but failed to repent [turn-araound and go in a new and different direction from the one they cam out of]. For instance, a smae gendered person could recieve Jesus, but not be concerned with getting out of that same gender life style! Fornicators could continue to live together and not only come to church but servce in rolls usually reserved for people of righteous life styles!

Iw RW's PDL book at fault? I can't say...but I can say, that it is clear to me that the Emergents Chruch is practicing a lot of the principles of RW's book! This is where the thought that while 99% of something may be spot on, it is the 1% that is in error that will keep a person from the path less often traveled!

The road to hell is traveled by many wonderful, well meaning, good intentioned church folks. And that is the tragedy of God-lite!
