This is NOT a debate. I simply want to know if you have read these books and what did you think? Did I get my money's worth? I got a gift card and ordered the books so I await their arrival. Are these ground shaking books that all Reformed should read? Please give opinions on the books, but once again this is NOT a debate with Arminian and those whom disagree.

I am only looking for books that can help me understand Reformed theology better, and books that can help me draw closer to God in understanding his holiness which will obviously impact and better my evangelism and my walk with the Lord. Diving into the word and reading mature authors in the Lord always helps...

First, if you do not want a debate you posted in the wrong section. However, I have not engaged in debate I responded directly to the op and gave the reason why.

I love Sproul and have his book 'What is Reformed Theology' but have not read it yet as other things have come up so I am reading some other works. The others sound interesting as well so let us know what you think. I've also just ordered the book 'The Assurance of our Salvation' by MLJ. It's a longer book, some 672 pages.

I have read the first two and they are wonderful works, especially The Holiness of God, I would challenge every Christian to read this book. It will deepen your reverence for God. Did he write the third book as well?

I agree with SolaSaint - The Holiness of God is a must read. I've not read the others.

“I think the greatest weakness in the church today is that almost no one believes that God invests His power in the Bible. Everyone is looking for power in a program, in a methodology, in a technique, in anything and everything but that in which God has placed it—His Word. He alone has the power to change lives for eternity, and that power is focused on the Scriptures.”
― R.C. Sproul, The Prayer of the Lord

No that one is by a different author. I thank you for your comments and I anxiously await the books. However there have been delays due to the after holiday season. I like books that will take a dive into theology.

672 pages? My goodness that looks long. Is the book all on one topic? I see that both Mac and RC endorsed the book.

A reformed brother on FB told me its as essential as the Gospel According to Jesus for believers. 4 years ago I bought the book for someone whom never read it, and 4 years later I wish I would have bought the book for myself and just did. Books that help me understand DOCTRINE are vital, over books that teach my daily living principles or how to heal my emotions.

I like Charles Stanley and David Jeremiah, although not reformed. But sad as it is their latest books focus on healing my emotions.

Trust me, the church needs information on that as well. I've recently dealt with a number of people who need healing in this area because of severe - SEVERE damage done to them. I'm glad they wrote books on this topic and would be happy to read them when I get the time!

There is a place for everything. There are books to help with the head, the heart, and the hands. Too much on any one topic would not be healthy so is wise to have balance. Reading Pastoral type books like the ones Stanley and Jeremiah have published this year do have their advantages.

Yes, it's on the Lord's prayer for His people in John 17.
