Did the Apsotles record doem exactly what was said, or the Gist of it?

    Did the Gospels authors seek to record down exactly what Jesus spoke, orthe Gist of it?

    They recorded accurately, inspired by God, their own Greek translations of the Aramaic words of Jesus.

    The gospels were guided by the Holy Spirit, and also represent the 4 faces of Jesus
    Matthew- The Lion/King
    Mark-The Ox/Servant
    Luke-Man
    John-The Eagle

    Agreed. Whether it was His entire conversation on the topic or the condensed version of His sermons, speeches, and parables .... it was what God wanted written down - supernaturally inspired.

    Matthew 4:4 Man shall live by the gist of what proceeds out of the mouth of God?

    Nope it says every word.

    I believe they wrote down his exact words, I don't believe it was the gist. maybe shorter or condensed. But I don't believe they just put the gist.

    mark recorded and down the sermons and messages of peter the early church agreed on, bit he did ediring of those messages and wrote down what was appropiate based uoponn His desired results, same things for all the gospels, so even if not all that Jesus said , is that any less inspired?
