It is very edifying as a Christian and encouraging to see prayer answered by a miracle healing right in front of you. Within a minute or two of commanding a golfball sized goose egg on my two yr old grand daughter's forehead to go, it physically shrank to nothing in about 20 seconds! Redness gone! Zip! Notta! Everyone on this board can do the same thing if they believe out of love and obeying Jesus to preach the gospel, heal the sick, raise the dead!

When you see your first miracle, be careful not to assign it to the devil so quickly like the pharisees did. It might be Jesus doing it, wondering why you doubt His works and where is the relationship you so readily tell people we have?

When you experience a healing miracle after you or another prays, you will have to decide if what you saw happened, really happened. Within a minute or two, you will have no doubt that it happened.

Then you will have to choose. Was it the devil or Jesus that healed?

The devil comes but to kill steal and destroy. Jesus came to give life and more abundantly.

If you see a sick child healed, will you rejoice that a sick child is healed, or will you try to verify and doubt like the pharisees did? Is your focus on Jesus and what His love does?

When you see a miracle, know that it is okay that you were wrong about cessation-ism, you are not condemned. You can repent(change the mind) and believe the gospel(salvation, healing, deliverance, on earth as it is in heaven)

I'm not sure that praying and seeing a miracle happen proves cessationism is false. The Apostles who had the gift of healing for example, healed at will did they not? They laid hands on and prayed and the person was healed - always. I don't see anyone with that gift today. I see Benny Hinn shouting and throwing people to the ground, I don't see Jesus or the Apostles putting on that kind of show. I believe in healing miracles, but I don't see anyone with the gift of healing as Jesus and the Apostles performed. I would love to see God give that gift to someone so they could go around the world and help all these inflicted people live a whole life.

I have also seen the Lord heal. Nowadays he heals through prayer. There is no one today that has the gift of healing. Peter had the gift of healing.
Here is an example of the gift of healing:

Acts 5:16 There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.

The modern equivalent of that today is Peter (or a faith healer) going to all the hospitals in a city and healing every one--no one excluded.
    --They were healed, every one.

    Thank Jesus!

    Nowadays he heals through prayer.
It is ALWAYS through prayer. Laying on hands and praying is the same as praying from a distance for the sick. Jesus did both. We do both.

There is no one today that has the gift of healing.

" In my experience or circle, in my lifetime I have not seen a person with the gift of healing" is a better statement.

Peter had the gift of healing and all knew it.
Jesus could heal all who came to him and all knew it.
    That was without mass media.

In our tech-savvy world today don't you think that if someone truly had the gift of healing all the world would hear about? They surely would?
If someone could heal all the types of cancer he would be a very selfish person to hide it. That would not be the attribute of a Christian.
If he had the ability to cure those with TB, polio, malaria, dengue, H1N1, Aids, and all the various plagues and epidemics that are hitting the world today, would not the media hear about it? They surely would, and they would flock to that person, as those of Christ's time flocked to him.

There is no one in our day who has the gift of healing. That is for certain.

There is but when evidence is presented, it is ridiculed exactly like the pharisees did. It is certain that the healing gift is in full operation, and so is unbelief, and shoring up that unbelief with unsound doctrine.

And can you give that evidence, other than a few anecdotal healings that are answers to prayer, such as I can offer you as well.

I can give you I suppose what one might classify as an anecdotal "proof" [I wasn't on location when this event happened back in the early 1950's.] that just because a person claims to have the "gift of healing" is no guarantee that such a person does, in fact, have that gift in the sense that the NT Apostles did.

A very dear friend of mind who currently pastors a Baptist church in Ohio was stricken with polio a few years before the polio vaccination became available.

This man's parents tried several times to have him "go forward and be healed" by a couple of different "faith healers" who were conducting "healing services" in the area in which this man and his parents lived.

Without fail, this man (He was about 6 - 7 years old at the time.) was REFUSED admission to EACH AND EVERY ONE of these so-called "healing services."

If these so-called "faith healers" did, in fact, have the "gift of healing" as Christ and His Apostles did, why then was this person REFUSED admission??

No where, either in any of the four Gospel accounts, or any where else in the New Testament, do I read of ANY account of ANY person who was genuinely healed being REFUSED.

    Why not? :tonofbricks:

Again you ask for evidence instead of rejoicing that Jesus heals. We know that a deaf girl healed instantly by a man praying in Jesus' name is from God. The first thing upon hearing a testimony like this is to rejoice. But a pharisee will question everything about it for verification that it happened, and if it was done legally. This is no love in that. If your daughter was raised from the dead would you complain that a Catholic priest did it? The only way you will be satisfied with evidence, is when you see it firsthand. Then you still might assign it to Satan.

Well, forgive him, but when you espouse unbiblical tripe and claim it is real today, we'd like to see your evidence rather than just take your word for it. Since no one has been resurrected since the day Jesus was, your stories are hard to swallow. Jesus heals, no doubt. You don't.

    John 16:24
Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name; ask that your joy may be full.
--We have prayed, asked, seen, and our joy has been made full. You are the skeptic.
We do see God answering prayers and even working the occasional miracle. But that doesn't mean the gift of miracles or the gift of healing is operative for today. As I already explained: Everyone in the known world knew that Jesus could heal everyone that came to him. No one was refused. They came from all over--from many different nations to be healed.

Nowadays we have TV crews, the internet, etc. It is a much smaller world in that respect. If such an event were to happen the whole world would know about it, almost immediately. It would be an event just as big or bigger than 9-11. For 9-11 was an event of destruction on a large scale. How much greater would be an event of "creation" or healing today on that scale. It doesn't happen does it? No one heals on the scale that Jesus did, or that Peter did--no one. Because no one has that gift.

You are right, I do not heal, Jesus has through us. Are you sure Jesus was the last to be raised from the dead, or the first?

Did I say he was the last? Please show me where I said that. I specifically referred to the day He was raised. Didn't catch the nuance, did you?

Mariah Etter Woodworth, reported on continually for years, testimonies and constant newspaper reports of healings and miracles.
Smith Wigglesworth, reported on continually for years, testimonies and constant newspaper reports of healings and miracles.

John G Lake, reported on continually for years, testimonies and constant newspaper reports of healings and miracles.

Thousands of testimonies, newspaper accounts, Video, youtube, TV, you and the world will not believe unless you see it firsthand. Blessed are those that see and believe, blessed are those who do not see but believe.

It all centers on your unbelief. If the worlds methods of healing(thank God for them too!) are more successful than your churches, you need to repent.

Praise God that I have a BIG blackboard ... covers one whole entire wall.
'Cause under your name, there are a multitude of small "X" marks ...
... each indicating an erroneous statement of yourn.
I do have room for some more ... so, keep 'em comin'.
I'll let you know when the board's close to bein' filled.

P.S. Believers having the same gift ... have varying degrees of it.
(The Lord is big on ... variety is the spice of life.)
Again, we're not a bunch of robots runnin' around here.

In Matt 12 Jesus said that the Jews were in danger of the unpardonable sin - when they attributed the work of the Holy Spirit to Satan.

In Eph 4:8-11 we are told that the 1Cor 12 gifts are to remain until the 2nd coming.

So while I do admit that Satan is allowed to perform "Signs and wonders" we should not assume that Christians are under the control of Satan each time the Holy Spirit manifests one of His own "according as HE Wills" GIFTS in 1Cor 12.

1Cor 14:1 "Desire earnestly spiritual gifts...".

So I say - amen! and amen when God chooses to perform a miracle.

    in Christ,

    Bob

The fact that a Benny Hinn counterfeit exists does not invalidate the teaching of scripture on the subject of spiritual gifts.
