When do you udate Your Bible version?

I didn't own an NIV until 1998 when the Korean pastor of the church I attended gave me the 84 edition as a gift. Of course it was newly published though being the 84 edition. I do not own the 1973 and 1978 editions.

I bought my first TNIV in 2002 I think it was. I don't have it with me here. It's back in America. I received a free TNIV from Zondervan back in 2007/2008. It was called "The Books Of The Bible" because it had no chapter and verse divisions and other features. I won it because I had made more suggestions for improvement of the NT than anyone else. They had run a contest at the time.

At one time I owned a 77 edition of the NASB --then I bought the 95 update (which needs an update!).

If anyone is curious about the main translation I used prior to my first NIV --I used the Modern Language Bible which still has a fond place in my heart.

I have physical copies of 20 or more Bible translations --most are in storage in South Korea. Among them is Tyndale's 1536 NT (which was itself an update). Tyndale's Bible was updated several times after he died. One of the most famous updates is ...what's it called? Oh yeah, the KJV.

 

I buy each new one for my collection. But still carry an NASB 95 as my main Bible.

 

Over the last decade or so the ESV has made small,incremental updates every few years. Do you mean to say that you went out and bought each one?

As I had said, before coming to South Korea in 1998 my primary translation was the Modern Language Bible. I spent a great deal of time transferring my notes to my then new NIV. I don't want to repeat that laborious process. I still have that NIV which was given to me as a gift in 1998. So I refer to its notes sometimes when I use my current NIV.
