Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States. A military force, at the command of Congress, can execute no laws, but such as the people perceive to be just and constitutional; for they will possess the power, and jealousy will instantly inspire the inclination, to resist the execution of a law which appears to them unjust and oppressive.

The only people really confused (or ignorant) about the meaning and the purpose of the 2nd amendment are those worried that the power of the government may, indeed, be constrained by it.

The founders knew exactly what they were doing.

Ok, so you (2?) are all for our 2nd amendment right? How about our 1st amendment right, do you (2?) also value that one?

Make that 3. And I value, support, preserve, and defend all of the Bill of Rights.

So as not to derail this thread, why don't you start one on that topic and see what happens.

I don't see anyone apposed to the 1st or 2nd. The fact is that the 2nd helps ensure the others.

Nope they are not. Someone is trying to derail this thread because there are some who have no tolerance for their anti-semtic posts. They have the right to say what they want. And I have a right to point out the nature of the language.

Am I overly tired and missing the "anti-semitism"? It is late, and I've been up for almost 24 hours now. Please point it out, either in public or private so I know my brains still working for the rest of the night. ;)

    Thanks
