Given the noise that the media are making one would think Osama bin Laden had been raised from wherever and had bombed the 9/11 Memorial. It is insane! It is political correctness gone insane. I have listened to what Sterling said and seen the limited transcript on TV. I have attempted to find a complete transcript of his remarks. I will say this. What I heard and read warranted none of the hysteria that has erupted on TV. What I heard and read was mostly directed at his "lady friend". What I heard and read warranted nothing approaching the treatment he is receiving, not that he really cares. What I heard and read is probably no worse than thousands of people express every day.

It is my belief that there is not a living soul that does not bear some animus against a certain ethnic or racial group. I am not saying that these people are racist, I am simply saying that I doubt there is a single person who does not have some animosity against certain people as a group.

I went to college with whites, orientals, Muslims, and blacks. I have worked during my career with all four peoples. I found out many years ago that it is much more likely to have animosity against a racial, or ethnic, or any people, considered as a group, than it is to have the same feelings toward individuals. I have no doubt that someone will accuse me of racism, it has been implied before. i will say this, there are worse things, in my opinion, than having racial prejudice; but listening to some of the talking heads on TV one would never know it..

The NBA threw the book at LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling, banning him for life, fining him $2.5 million and raising the possibility of a forced sale of the team over racist remarks he made to an ex-girlfriend that surfaced on a tape recording.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver made the announcement at a New York press conference moments after Sterling told Fox News that he was not interested in selling the team. When reached after the press conference by Fox News' Jim Gray, Sterling declined to comment.

Silver, who succeeded David Stern as NBA commissioner in February, said the league interviewed Sterling during its investigation. He said NBA investigators determined that the voice heard on the audio tape obtained by TMZ was Sterling's and called the comments "deeply offensive" and vowed to “do everything in my power” to force a sale of the team, which could be worth more than $500 million.

“The hateful opinions voiced by that man are those of Mr. Sterling. The views expressed by Mr. Sterling are deeply offensive and harmful. That they came from an NBA owner only heightens the damage and my personal outrage,” Silver said. “I am banning Mr. Sterling for life from any association with the Clippers association or the NBA. Mr. Sterling may not attend any NBA games or practices, he may not be present at any Clippers facility, and he may not participate in any business or decisions involving the team.”

I am not a sports fan. I never heard of Sterling or his team until this past weekend. I have heard of "shag" as you call him but only because of talking heads on TV; but I don't know anything else about him! Sterling may be a real dirt bag for all I know but the outcry over his remarks is political correctness gone wild. I don't believe even Fox News made as much racket over the Philadelphia baby killer Gosnell and they are the only one who covered him. Gosnell apparently concentrated primarily on killing black babies.

I checked the second link on shaq. Of course he will get a pass. Blacks are allowed to make racist or abusive remarks because they are the "downtrodden"; they are allowed to beat up and abuse women because they are black!

Several years ago, I went to a race relations class. A black student said that Black (and other minorites) cannot be racist because they do not have any power. (actully I think they have a lot of power- as a group)

Then they got upset, because I said I was a minority - as I was the only white male in the class!

Here is the insanity of political correctness. Did anyone hear mention of the young girl he buried alive?

A botched execution using a new drug combination left a convicted killer writhing and clenching his teeth on the gurney Tuesday, leading Oklahoma prison officials to halt the proceedings before the inmate's eventual death from a heart attack.

Clayton Lockett, 38, who shot a 19-year-old woman and watched as pals buried her alive in 1999, was declared unconscious 10 minutes after the first of the state's new three-drug lethal injection combination was administered. Three minutes later, though, he began breathing heavily, writhing, clenching his teeth and straining to lift his head off the pillow.

The blinds were eventually lowered to prevent those in the viewing gallery from watching what was happening in the death chamber, and the state's top prison official eventually called a halt to the proceedings. Lockett died of a heart attack a short time later, the Department of Corrections said.

"It was a horrible thing to witness. This was totally botched," said Lockett's attorney, David Autry.

The apparent failure of the execution is likely to fuel more debate about the ability of states to administer lethal injections that meet the U.S. Constitution's requirement they be a neither cruel nor unusual punishment. That question has drawn renewed attention from defense attorneys and death penalty opponents in recent months, as several states scrambled to find new sources of execution drugs because drugmakers that oppose capital punishment -- many based in Europe -- have stopped selling to prisons and corrections departments.

Several states have gone to court to shield the identities of the new sources of their execution drugs. Missouri and Texas, like Oklahoma, have both refused to reveal their sources, but both of those states have since successfully carried out executions with their new supplies.

Tuesday was the first time Oklahoma used the drug midazolam as the first element in its execution drug combination. Other states have used it before; Florida administers 500 milligrams of midazolam as part of its three-drug combination. Oklahoma used 100 milligrams of that drug.

"They should have anticipated possible problems with an untried execution protocol," Autry said. "Obviously the whole thing was gummed up and botched from beginning to end. Halting the execution obviously did Lockett no good."

Republican Gov. Mary Fallin ordered a 14-day stay of execution for an inmate who was scheduled to die two hours after Lockett, Charles Warner. She also ordered the state's Department of Corrections to conduct a "full review of Oklahoma's execution procedures to determine what happened and why during this evening's execution."

"I believe the death penalty is an appropriate response and punishment to those who commit heinous crimes against their fellow men and women," Fallin said. "However, I also believe the state needs to be certain of its protocols and its procedures for executions and that they work."
