Calvinists some questions

    Do you read books and or listen to Podcasts by Arminian? I do as I like to hear their arguments. Yesterday one (former Calvinist) said that Calvinism = Fatalistic determinism or theistic fatalism (can't remember the exact word). And then he said that in a Calvinistic worldview it brought pleasure to God for Adam to Fall and the world to be in sin. He also said that Armianism is not exactly Pelagianism (man converts himself) or semi-Pelagianism (man does some and God does some in conversion) of which I agree. What do you think about his arguments? I personally believe he was confusing Hyper-Calvinism with Calvinism.

    A few days ago I was reading a book and one Arminian made some very good arguments I have not yet figured out. He was talking about prophecy (not interested in a debate on this subject thanks) and was talking of 2 Pet 3:9, and made some good arguments that it would be against God's nature to not wish to elect more than 100 Million People whom will take the mark of the beast during the tribulation. Why would God not grant faith and repentance to all those people? Do you have a response?

    Its fun looking at the other side, but it also can cause confusion.

    I have a couple of sermons by Adrian Rogers on my ipod. I don't really listen to him much anymore, but he has a couple of good sermons.

    Otherwise, I don't really care for their theology.

    Sounds like Michael Brown.

    I'd like to know how he defines "pleasure". The Bible is clear that was God's plan.

    God isn't obligated to save anybody. That God would condescend to save any sinner is more than enough to demonstrate His mercy.

    Is God overjoyed that 100 million people + will go to Hell during the tribulation? You know children will also be in the fire. In Ninevah there was children that God wanted to save and why he sent Jonah.

    I would be very careful ascribing human emotion to God.

    Is God "happy" that people will go to Hell? No, I don't believe so. But is He satisfied that justice is done, that His Word and His Laws are upheld, yes, I believe the Bible is clear that He is.

    It is odd that people sometimes seem to attribute not only human emotion…but childish human emotion to God. God does not have to “desire” that people perish to “will” that the ungodly perish. The only time I can think of desire equating to will is with children. As an adult there are many times I desire something, but it is not something that I actively “will” because I am not controlled by my desires.

    If your question is about the issue of Calvinism and Arminianism, I don't really read much of that stuff anyways.
