Dr. Dwight Pentecost passed on to glory on April 28. He was a longtime prof at Dallas Theological Seminary. His book, Things to Come, is the absolute best ever on dispensational premillenialism, maybe on prophecy altogether, since it has much on the interpretation of prophecy and its history. Dr. David Alan Black has commented on his blog about Dr. Pentecost, who he knew well: http://daveblackonline.com/blog.htm (scroll down to Tuesday, April 29).

I don't see how someone can be thoroughly educated on prophecy without Pentecost's 583 page tome. I have the big books by William Biederwolf (The Millenium Bible) and J. Barton Payne (Encyclopedia of Biblical Prophecy), but Pentecost's is the best. Admittedly though, the other two books have a somewhat different purpose than Pentecost's. Any any rate, sell your horse and buy Pentecost's book.

A side note: I was a little boy in Wheaton, IL, when J. Barton Payne was a prof at Wheaton College, and my brother was a friend of his boy, Peter Payne, who grew up to be a scholar with the Institute of Credible Christianity.

John, I agree with you on his book, "Things To Come." I have a few of his books and have enjoyed them.

I think I have a couple of his other books, but I'm not sure where they are. I always know which shelf Things to Come is on, though!

He was and probably still is required reading at my Alma Mater - Calvary Bible College and Theological Seminary at KCMO.
