Christians profess to be pro-life but also say they are okay with capital punishment.

It's even been said that Genesis 9:6 is the justification for capital punishment.
    “Whoever sheds human blood,
    by humans shall their blood be shed;
for in the image of God
    has God made mankind.

So if the Body is to be consistent, should we not advocate capital punishment for any living mother who has chosen to abort a child?

Since the Supreme Court said it was OK, and yer always harpin' on us about submission to the state…...

    No. :tongue3:

My answer is no even though I disagree with you on submission, but in this case, they are not breaking a law.

Without the amendment, it would be up to each state to prove the abortion is a premeditated murder, and worthy of capital punishment. I would support such.

They are shedding another man's blood. They are breaking God's law right? I mean that is the justification we've been using for capital punishment. SO why aren't these women deserving of the same punishment that folks in the church say others are?

Does this create too much of a political firestorm?

Would it be political suicide for "conservatives" to be okay with condemning a mother who murders the baby that was in her womb for shedding blood? We say that we are okay with the man who murders twenty pre-schoolers getting the death penalty. Why not the mother who has someone murder the baby in her womb?

Not saying it has to happen because she legally can get an abortion. But for consistency sake, shouldn't , if we are gonna use Gen 9 to defend capital punishment, should we not also advocate death for these mothers?

I think I answered your question fairly thoroughly. It should be up to the states. I would support a state that decided it was premeditated murder and tried it as such.

Actually, it would fall under conspiracy, with the performing abortionist and any staff a party to it.

Actually, it's a vote for the state to have the right to try her at all.

Thanx for yet another example of why people shouldn't talk to you.

Having the state try her ain't an option. She's shed blood . It's either death penalty like anyone else who has shed blood or not.

Your vote is already recorded as kill the mothers.

Nope. My vote is the state tries, then executes, if that is their choice. I don't kill anyone.

That is right. It was started fro no other reason then to work to paint anyone who disagrees with his liberal position in the worst possible light.

For the record, I am all for abolishing abortion, and instituting the death penalty for any FUTURE abortions. In the case of America, I would allow amnesty to past abortions, but any future would be grounds for capital punishment. Both for the woman and the provider.

Crimes deserving the death penalty are decided by the government. The government has mandated that abortion is not a crime, ergo, nonpunishable.

I believe abortion is murder, but the state does not.

IF abortion WAS considered murder by the government and made into a death penalty crime, there would have to be several people potentially put to death:

    • At a minimum, the mother, doctor, and nurses.
    • Included the MAJORITY of the time when girls feel pressure into abortions would be the parents of the girl who threaten to abandon her if she does not get an abortion, the father of the baby who threatens to abandon if she does not "get rid of it", and all parties involved in the "system" of abortion.
Abortion is a crime of many people.

As to the OP, you seem to think that we who support the death penalty DESIRE to see people die whom we consider death-worthy.

Nothing could be further from the truth. We are all death-worthy. But that does not absolve us from punishments, both secular and spiritual just because we are all sinners. Society, being supported by the Bible, can and does deem which crimes are punishable by death. And .... if the process is fair, just, due process led, and equitable, then that punishment can be dealt out without fear of offending God.

FWIW, my jr high math teacher told me "while I believe in the death penalty, I'm not so sure I want to give this out of control government of ours the right to take life."
So his jab was at inept government. Not saying I agree, just saying that I'll never forget his reason for objecting to it. He ended up dying of pancreatic cancer. :-(

Those who are properly tried, convicted of murder then executed get what they deserve. Period.

Zaac, will you agree with that? And I'm talking about convicted murderers getting the death penalty...do they get what they deserve?

If he's a part of the decision, then he's a part of conspiracy to murder. And before you go ad nauseum with "what ifs", it's a case by case basis.

This subject has come up time and time again on this board. Every time it does crabby asks the same questions. He is always given a reasonable answer, one that he should hang his hat on. But in the end his agenda is his agenda and it always will be.

Does Scripture PROHIBIT the use of the death penalty?

What liberal position? The one that says And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22:39

Or maybe you mean the one that says Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Phi. 2:9

Or maybe the one that says 8 If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,”you are doing right. 9 But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers. James 2:8-9

Folks call positions liberal that are BIBLICAL when they want to justify their obvious disobedience.

The position of CHRIST is loving. What's the position of a church that is hypocritically not acting like Him?
