My library consists about about 4500 volumes with plenty more in digital formats. :)

Have given most away - dozen very old books and maybe couple dozen dusty other books - never use them - thousands of digital.

I had close to a couple dozen boxes of books stored in my mom's garage. Over this past winter, I finally went through all of them and wound up selling about 20 boxes worth to Half Price Books. Didn't get quite as much $$$ as I was hoping for, but still made a pretty penny from them. Probably still have a couple hundred books either on my book cases or still boxed up.

    :)

I have two King James Bibles.

One is real old and worn out, missing some pages.

The other is much newer and not missing any pages. It is also much larger print, because my eyesight is not nearly so good as when the first Bible was purchased.

    That's it.

Edit- I did own a Matthew Henry's commentary that was given to me as a gift about 30 years ago, but I haven't seen it in over 20 years and don't know what I did with it. I also used to own a Strong's Concordance that also disappeared many years ago.

I've probably got around 70 or so. I haven't counted.

I also have a ton of books and articles in digital format, and about 150 books (physical and soft copy) in my amazon wishlist.

I think I have about 12 Bibles, mostly KJV.

Interestingly, the most common author I have is John Piper - 7 books I think. Ironic since I have really only read 1 of the books all the way through, and only bought 2 myself.

You only have two books? At all? Two Bibles?

I've been a bibliophile since I was a teenager – my parents stopped trying to give me the books I left at their house when I moved out books years ago and started giving them to my kids.

I have several thousand books in Logos Digital Software; some in Kindle.

I've got seven bookshelves in my library filled with about 750 volumes – it's as much as the Misses will let me keep.

As the shelves become full, I weed out the weaker ones, the ones that I haven't used in a while, and make room for new ones. Most of the old ones go the church.

Just this morning I passed along a newer four-volume systematic theology text (on permanent loan to the pastor) – he'll use them more than I will.

Some I don't plan on letting go till …

An Authorized Version printed by John Basket (1732)
A History of the Warfare of Science with Theology in Christendom by Andrew Dickson White (special limited edition two volume set, 1896) – made into a Logos Personal book
Gesenius Hebrew Grammar (Oxford 2nd ed, 1910)
The New Testament in Modern Speech by Richard Francis Weymouth (4th ed. 1926)
The Inspiration and Authority of the Bible by Benjamin Warfield (1948)
The Christian View of Science and Theology by Bernard Ramm (1954)
A two volume set of the Compact Edition of the Oxford English Dictionary (1971)
Decision Making and the Will of God, by Garry Friesen (1980)
The Byzantine Text-Type & New Testament Textual Criticism by Harry A. Sturz (1984)
All of Robert Alter's books and translations.

Including Bibles, Christian books - both fiction and nonfiction, secular books, professional books, children's books and more ..... I couldn't hazard a guess.

I sold probably half a few years ago in a yard sale. That leaves me with about 400 or so more.

And yes, Deacon, I am also a bibliophile.

I even broke into the public library when I was in my early twenties with an accomplice who worked there and we stole three boxes of children's books that were headed for the incinerator.

Not one of my best nor wiser moments! :saint:

That's allot of books. However I met someone whom boasted of 15,000 books in print not counting digital. In my count I also included the Hobbit and my career books which would be about 10.

I have Presbyterian Hymnal from 1843...Really small, no music, just texts. That might be my favorite of the hymnals.

One of my college profs had a hymnal collection over 600.

Just sitting here in my living room on the couch, I count 50 books directly across from me. Those are just the ones that are stacked and are in baskets - no bookcases in here. I have a bookcase in our hallway that is overflowing, two in our bedroom - also overflowing. Upstairs is another one and I have cases of homeschool books downstairs. Finally, there's the active homeschool bookcase in the dining room. I'd guess I have over 1000 in the house. I believe I'm close to a thousand on my Kindle as well. The last book I purchased was Taking God at His Word by Kevin DeYoung.

Oh, I have a couple paperback fiction books I received for Christmas a few years back, but I haven't read any of them, not a fiction fan.

But religious books? Just my two Bibles, although that Matthew Henry commentary and Strong's Concordance might be packed away in a box somewhere. I don't think I threw them out, but we have moved several times since I owned them. Haven't seen either one in many years.

Edit- I just remembered I have a little hardcover called "I Really Didn't Say Everything I Said" by Yogi Berra. It's a great book full of Yogi's famous comments. What is amazing is that a friend gave this book to me on my birthday, not realizing that Yogi Berra and I were both born on May 12. Really.

I have no idea how many I have...probably too many. I tend to hang on to books. Now I have to get another...the Yogi Berra book Winman mentioned.

I love it. All the countless books people have, and Winman boasts 2 bibles. That's really good stuff, and tells where his heart is.

If I count the books I possess, it would probably be about 250-300, have given away or sold at least half of what I've previously owned.

If I count the books I've picked up in the last 10 years, it would be about a half dozen:

Interlinear Greek New Testament with NRSV margin
    NASB
    Parallel KJV, NIV, NASB, Amp
    ESV
    Zodhiates' Word Study Dictionary (NT)
    Thayer's Lexicon
Mounce's Basics of Biblical Greek (been about a year since I've been in it)

And yet what did Paul say when he wrote to Timothy? I think it was something like 'bring the books?'

    Sounds like my DVD library...

Re: Paul's request to Timothy to bring his books; I'm sure it was nothing a large U-Haul couldn't handle.

Point is that the books, outside of just 'the parchments' were important to him. Not having any books does not make one godly.

Why do you go to church since you do not want to hear what the pastor has to say since you know more than the pastors?
