Thinking about the Kingdom

    When we see "kingdom" in our bibles, I expect many of us picture a place, such as a heavenly throne room. But if we think longer, we might see "kingdom" as a descriptive term for where God reigns. The kingdom in view in the Lord's prayer, "your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven." A place where God's will is done, or at least done to the best of our ability. The idea that the kingdom is within you, or more accurately, within some of you.

    So how do we foster God's reign within us. One way to love God with all our heart, mind and soul. Because if we love God we keep His commands. And so if our love and devotion to Christ is wholehearted, we will be experiencing and enjoying the reign of God within us.

    Should we understand the kingdom of God/Christ/David in the context of ruling with a rod of iron?

    Then consider the context of the rod of Iron from both Psalms 2 ans Rev. 2

    Psalms 2:7-9
    I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. (the resurrected Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ, the son of David, the Son of God?) Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.

    Rev 2:26,27
    And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.

    Is that kingdom theology and is it presently being exercised by the Son of Man and his saints? From Daniel 7.

    Great post Van and very much in line with what the holy Spirit has taught me about the Kingdom. I have not been perfeced yet but i do live every minute of every day with the idea that The Kingdom spoken of is on the Earth until the Catching Away of the Bride and then, seven years later, His and the Brides return to rule.

    Think the truth is that the Kingdom is partially here, as in the Body of Christ upon the earth, but that is a spiritual one, and that the Fullness comes with the King at His Second Coming, when ALL peoples and entire World under his Kingly reign!

    Hi Percho, I think you missed the idea. Do a study of "the kingdom is like" from the parables of Jesus, and tell me what you discover. If we were being ruled now with a rod of iron, why would Jesus tell us His burden is light? You might start with Matthew 13:31 and following.
