Adam and Eve decided to sin. What did Adam lose? And by extension, what did we, as his descendants, lose?

Furthermore, did we inherit Adam's guilt? Or did we inherit a sinful nature? Just trying to create discussion.

You don't believe in asking deep questions, do you?

    But here goes.....

    What did Adam lose?

He lost communion with God. He lost eternal life. He lost his sinlessness. He lost access to the Tree of Life...which is where eternal life comes in, imo.

And by extension, what did we, as his descendants, lose?

Everything that Adam had, if he had not fallen, we would have had. So, if that be the case, we lost all that he lost. He lost eternal life...we lost eternal life. He lost his sinlessness...we lost our sinlessness. He lost communion with God, we lost communion with God. He lost access to the Tree of Life...we lost access to the Tree of Life.

Furthermore, did we inherit Adam's guilt? Or did we inherit a sinful nature?

for all did sin, and are come short of the glory of God --(Romans 3:23 YLT)

because of this, even as through one man the sin did enter into the world, and through the sin the death; and thus to all men the death did pass through, for that all did sin;(Romans 5:12 YLT)

and of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou dost not eat of it, for in the day of thine eating of it -- dying thou dost die.'(Genesis 2:17 YLT)

Now, if Adam had not sinned, none of this would have been passed down to us. When he fell, we still being in Adam, him as our "federal head", we fell with him. He ushered in the curse of death to all men. Babies die in the womb, not on account of their sins, but on the account Adam's sin, Adam's guilt, was imputed unto them.

We are born sinners, born at enmity with God, due to Adam, the first Adam. The last Adam, Jesus Christ, took care of that when He hung, bled, died and arose.

    Pretty good assessment

Could you expand on the "communion with God" part? I know the scripture tells us that Adam could still hear God, and speak with God, although Adam now feared God and tried to hide from God.

Before Adam transgressed, he spoke with God daily, or that's the way I see it in Genesis. They were in an accord, would probably be a better way of putting it. When he sinned and fell, when God's voice came in the cool of the day, they, Adam and Eve, ran and hid. There's was now a discord betwixt them, and it was sin that caused it....

I agree, but even in preaching today it is said that Christians break fellowship/communion with God, so that's why I was wondering if you had anything more to it.
