I would not worry so much about the fate of this Republic if I believed they Obama were simply incompetent, stupid, or "feckless" as Sen. McCain says.

There has always been, in my recollection whicht goes back to FDR days, a group of leftists in the democrat party who were ashamed of this country and either apologized for it or wanted to see it humbled.

Obama has accomplished both objectives. His First act as president was a much publicized "apology tour". Since then his policies, both foreign and domestic have succeeded in humiliating this nation in the eyes of friend and foe.

His Second foreign policy disaster was canceling the Missile Defense System in Poland in the face of opposition from Russia.

His Third foreign policy was the failure to negotiate a "status of forces agreement" with Iraq. And now ISIS gives us the finger!

Then, of course, there was the "reset" debacle with Russia and the whispered "flexibility with Putin" promise. The consequence is that Russia under the ex KGB Colonel Putin has taken part of Ukraine [Crimea} and is moving to take more.

His success domestically has paralleled his foreign policy successes. First there was the $850 billion that went, only Obamma and God know where. Obamma later admitted with a smirk that there were no "shovel ready jobs".

Then there is Obammacare and the disaster it has wrecked on the healthcare and the economy of the nation. Obamma has successfully managed to extend the recession he inherited for 5 years and is pushing for 8 years. Every policy he has advanced, whether passed by Congress or imposed dictatorially, has exacerbated the recession.

Obamma has been remarkable successful, I would say beyond his and his backers wildest dreams. This country is militarily about where it was in 1939 after 6 years of Roosevelt! But Roosevelt and some of his advisors wanted to defend Communist Russia against Hither and that changed everything!

Obamma and his advisors only want to do more damage. I have been saying this since 2008 and I see evidence that I was correct.

I certainly am no fan of the current POTUS, OTOH I tend to agree with the old adage that a nation pretty much gets the leadership that it deserves.

The majority of the voting populace of the US (or at least those who took the trouble to vote) twice decided that the current occupant of 1600 PA Ave. was the person they wanted to serve as POTUS.

I am no prophet in the Biblical sense of that term, so I won't proclaim that the outcome of the last two POTUS elections was definitely approved by Almighty God; but, likewise, I'm not so sure that it wasn't.

While our nation isn't a theocracy like OT Israel, it seems to me that obviously we as Bible-believing Christians haven't learned very much from sacred history.

I realize that, in an election race for POTUS, we're not selecting a national pastor, but I do believe that we ought to at least consider a candidate's value system and performance record when selecting a person to support and/or vote for.

Neither one of the two major party candidates had a flawless background, and I, for one, didn't vote for either of them.

You can say what you want to about either one of them, but, let's face it, both are mortal men---and consequently are (just like all of us) sinners by birth.

I just wonder if, instead of merely criticizing them all the time, we'd spend as much (if not more) time praying for them, that maybe their decisions might just be more in tune with the values we find in our Bibles.

After all, the God we say that we honor and serve is THE ONE that's ultimately in control of all things. He is the One who has the final say in all men's lives---including whoever it may be who holds the office of POTUS.

My point is this: God's Word (see I Timothy 2:1-3) tells us to pray for those in authority over us. Perhaps if we'd take to heart what that passage tells us to do, we just might find it much easier to live in a society---evil as it is---wherein we would find it a bit more quiet and peaceful than it is.

I wonder sometimes if Obamma is simply an instrument of God in judging this nation that has endorsed the slaughter of 55 million unborn children! And the populace of this country are supposedly Christians?

I am probably wrong again, but I think that God just allows some things to happen. I don't think that God would put an evil man in office to attack His church.

I agree that we have to pray for all those in authority. It was really hard to pray for Evan Bayh, a uber liberal who pretends to be a moderate.

Proverbs 21:1 (KJV) The king's heart [is] in the hand of the LORD, [as] the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.

I never said that having the current POTUS that we do was a direct result of God ordaining it to be so.

Much of what we face in today's evil society is most likely simply because sinful people are merely doing what they are most prone to do---sin.

If we're honest with ourselves, all of us at one time or another have either thought about, or have actually done things that were/are not the best example(s) of how a Christian ought to conduct him-/her- self.

A cursory glance of the lives of the Bible's so-called "Hall of Fame of the Faith" in Hebrews 11 will reveal that most (if not all) of the individuals mentioned therein had lapses in their walk with the Lord. Even the Apostle Paul struggled with this (see Romans 7:15ff).

I, for one, don't necessarily believe that our current POTUS occupies that position for the sole purpose of, to use your words, "attack His [God's] church." Heaven knows that we already have enough people whose agenda seems to be doing so.

All I merely attempted to point out was that maybe...just maybe if we'd be more concerned about consistently doing what God's Word and the Holy Spirit tells us to be doing, we just might be a bit more pleasing to the One to whom we must all give an account once we leave this present life.

GOD chastened Israel repeatedly and the good suffered with the evil. Also note that many denominations have embraced abortion and homosexuality.

We don't have a king, at least not legally. In a Constitutional Republic does the president have authority over the people?

Yes, I think that the government has authority over the people. When bad people like 0bam@ and Bayh (either father or son) are elected, they exercise authority as represented by the fact that they can use guns to compel you to obey.

We infer that Sodom might have been spared if there had been ten good men in the entire rotten place but there were not. Is the greatest liberty ever given to the human race--the USA--to be destroyed by 0bam@ and the world plunged into total darkness because of God's work or because of the work of evil people in the USA who hate the light?

I am not optimistic about this country but I am optimistic about GOD. GOD will never leave Himself without a witness on earth and that witness is the Church or Churches. When all is said and done GOD wins and the Saints win through HIM!

I believe the greatest darkness the world faces at this time is Islam and of course some so-called churches, or their pastors, are already apostate praying to Allah, the mythical god of Mohammed!
