    Twilight Saga and Mormon Theology

Since I let it leak that I read the Twilight books (and felt the shame), I thought I would throw this out there as well.

This is an interesting read. So much of the vampire lore of this series makes sense when compared to Mormonism. Give it a read:

That is all that needs to be said about that.

Thanks for spotting that... although I might officially start calling it Twiglite.

Sorry; I just couldn't help the giggle. And I think "Twiglite" is an appropriate nonsensical name.

I refuse to watch or engage with these vapid books and their correspondingly idiotic movies.

No surprises though, if you look closely at other series like Ender's Game, Battlestar Gallactica, and Dune you'll heavy Mormon cosmology and philosophy as well. The authors have noted these influences when asked.

Kind of par for the course.

I'm guess I'm an oddball. I read books and watch movies for entertainment. I am able to realize that they are fiction and shouldn't be used to formulate my beliefs.

BTW, the entire Ender's Game series is great :).

While deployed, I ran out of reading material and only had the twilight series to read. So I did. The books were better than the movies, but were still horrible. Besides, she almost completely plagiarized the "Sookie Stackhouse Chronicles". Same characters and love triangles.

I don't often agree with Matt, but in this case I will add my hearty "Amen!"

Hollywood even did a pretty good job of bringing the book to the big screen. They had to jam 6 years into two hours, and had to adjust Ender's age (he was 5 when he went to battle school and 11 when he destroyed the buggers) to avoid using several different actors to portray him. But Asa Butterfield, at 16, did a good job of portraying a 12 year old (Asa is a very little guy).

I was prepared to hate the movie, but it turned out pretty good.

Hopefully Hollywood will film a sequel to "Enders Game" using the "Shadow" series. Ender isn't featured but his battle team are, and is, in my opinion, the most entertaining of the Ender's series of books.

Now, of course, somebody will try to say that the Ender saga is really Mormon doctrine in disguise because Orson Scott Card is a Mormon! LOL!

Another rather large group of excellent reads. And of the two movies, the television miniseries from 2000 to 2003 was by far the best. :)

I actually wasn't overly impressed with the movie, specifically for the reason that they had too much to cram in there. The true culture at battle school was never completely explored and you never really got to understand the motivating factors behind Ender's actions.

I agree. There was enough material in the book to make three movies. Or four. :)

Enjoyed God Emperor of Dune the best, and liked the Sci fi moniseries when leto became the sandworl God at the end, after father paul returned!
