I am reading a book on the tactics of Satan. It's a contemporary issues type of book and I love these kinds of books. Yes I am also studying the gospel or Mark and reading. Book on evangelism. While the book is from 1989 I am seeing much then that was rare that is common today. I have to wonder what types of games do young people play that tops D&D these days? The book also speaks of Ghostbusters which is a corny comedy that I did not find scary. However not sure I would want a giant wolf chasing me! I am sure the movies these days tops anything prior to 1989. What say you?

If you are speaking of games that may serve as an introduction to the occult (or foster an interest in the occult) then there are more than I can count (the same goes for movies and television shows). I would be more cautious, however, of the general move in media away from and against God (much of the hype about specific games/movies is just that...hype...which can easily be distraction of the real issues).

If the book you are reading lists Ghostbusters as a tactic of Satan....throw it away.

I bet its gotten far worse since 1989. This is actually quite a good book and I am almost finished. It hits the nail on many heads regarding Satan and his strategy. Sadly Satan has been very successful in the church and home since 1989. Most did not read this book, or follow the word of God.

Yes, I've seen the movie...occultic? Not in this version of reality.

Apparenlty someone does not know what "occultic" means. There are a lot of things that can be said about the movie ghost busters but occultic is not one of them. There is no religion in GB there is no worship of anything evil. We need sound Christians not westboro baptist Christians.

    1. At my last church, I had a group of friends in which we played Dungeons and Dragons once a month for 2 years...It was some good times to hang out with my Christian brothers.

    2. If Dungeons and Dragons is sinful, then Lord of the Rings is also.

I have many good memories of playing dungeons and dragons with friends. Never once did we consider it any form of demonic worship nor did it spark our interest in the occult.

Lutzer speaks of the movie as a doorway into the New Age movement and how Satan has used the film to infiltrate the home. I mean before 1984 where there many such movies? I have watched many older films from the 1930's - 1970's and these kind of films seemed far more rare in those days. I own every Twilight Zone episode and such satanic deceptions are not present in the show. Rod Serling was not a Christian, but he did have a moral compass as his Christian Science cult taught him.

I believe that GB has spawned a wave of horrible films. But I am anxious for your argument.

You played Dungeons and Dragons??? Oh my gosh thats getting into Satan's territory. Why did you do it? You may have invited devils into your life. In the book Lutzer tells story after story of people whom committed suicide or killed someone else after playing that game.

Lutzer was right Satan has indeed invaded the church.

I watched Ghostbusters a couple of months ago, after Harold Ramis died. One of the plot points was that a character was briefly possessed. And there was talk of evil spirits being unleashed on NYC. That hardly makes a movie satanic. It's not like the movie was an homage to the devil. Sheesh.

BTW, it wasn't as funny a movie as it was 30 years ago.

I think that Satan starts small and works bigger in time. Just think of it. Such a movie would have been unthinkable in the 1930's.

But I will add that I watched the movie in full for the first time in 2011. My first impression was satanic. However the X-files is no better and perhaps worse and I have watched that so I am no better.

Abbott and Costello Meets the Mummy.

What do you mean when you say the movie was "satanic"?

This might comes as a shock to you, as I'm someone who has been involved in ministry for 12 years, but I've played it, too. I was even Dungeon Master for our group, as I'm one of the better storytellers in my group of friends. There's no "satanic" connotation to our games. The characters we invented were just for fun. The dungeons and puzzles they had to overcome were just for fun.

We didn't meet in secret and hold a black mass before busting out the satan shrines. We sat around a table, mostly relaxed. We might have a map or a something that I had drawn up to further the game. Whenever the group would try to go somewhere that I, as DM, didn't want them to go, I could change the story to force them back onto a course I had chosen. Basically, D&D is the JRR Tolkien version of "choose your own adventure."

As someone else said, if you start labeling everything as "satanic," you being to tread shaky ground. You could call the writings of C.S. Lewis "satanic," even though he arguably held to a Christian point of view. Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" is pure fantasy, but it carries Christian allusions. I wouldn't label those things as "satanic" just because they're not overt glorifications of Christ.

Guess what, evangelist? People have committed suicide after going to church. People have killed other people at church. Does that make church "satanic?"

I believe Satan can invade anything, if given the opportunity. Invading a church is a trophy for him. I could point to several "mainstream" mega-churches and give you good examples of why I think Satan has invaded them. We can tackle fictional elements of the world once we clean out the spiritual household.

Satan will invade a person's life if they allow it. It requires a level of will power on the part of the person to not allow the cracks to form in which Satan can break through, and it requires a reliance on the Lord to keep them safe.
