Other than the false churches The Lord by using the conference has convicted me about witnessing to these groups as well. I have never witnessing to a Muslim partly because there are so few in Denver but perhaps I may write up a Muslim church. I know little about doing this can anyone assist? I have books speaking of the Muslim religion and no tracts that I know of. I wonder how I would start a conversation with a Muslim. Jews I have some gospel tracts and arguments prompting questions. However one rabbi told me he won't talk to me because I am not a Jew but gentile.

Have you ever tried just talking to people without relying on tracts and literature that will likely start an argument? I've found that just talking to people, not throwing tracts or religion at them, is usually the best way to open the door to discussion.

You are new here but others here know I am a regular street evangelist. I talk and open air preach as well. However tracts are great for people that are not there or can't talk. In the 16th mall there are thousands roaming the streets. Can't talk with everyone.

I'm not new here. You don't just have conversations with people on the streets. You confront people on the streets. 9 times out of 10 you end up in an argument with people on the street.

Why don't you address the content of PreachTony's post? Read it again (above) and respond to it.

Which is what I'm driving toward...argumentative confrontation is not a meaningful, productive way of introducing people to the Lord. Preaching is, in a manner of speaking, a different matter. But in conversation, being abrasive and confrontational is not effective.

Imagine if a Muslim or a Hindu did to you what you do to other people. Imagine you go out to your car after a long day at work....or imagine you leave your church and get in your car, only to notice a tract or flyer stuck under the windshield wiper. You open the tract and it's quoting the Vedas, or the Quran. How would you react?

I had a very good conversation once with a Muslim in NYC. I and my partner were walking around seeing who we could engage in conversation and he was willing to talk to us. We ended up talking to him for about 30 min and we left him a copy of the Book of John to read. The Bible is where the power is not some man written track or even books written by men.

I expect nothing better from liars like that Matt Wade. Even WinMan had more honesty and integrity over that character. I do not have confrontations 9/10 time on the streets!!! I have had many blessed an good chats with souls. One of these conversions as been on going and my Catholic friend decided the Cross of Christ was too academic and so I suggest a book by John Piper instead and he ordered a copy and we will chat and lord willing he will see the need for the vicarious atonement of Christ which a catholic denies. I did however try and warn him about Stott from the start but he know sees it's a graduate level book. Piper is more lay level.

Do you accept the notion of sola scriptura, evan?

Also, do you believe in varying degrees of reward in Heaven?

His practice would indicate that he does not believe in Sola Scriptura or the Sufficiency of Scripture.

Only a fool would think that. One key component I look for on churches is their use of scripture as the authority and if they hit on the core doctrines of the faith. I visited a Pentecostal website today and besides their 5-Pt Armianism they held to all the essentials, and used scripture as the authority for faith, life, and practice.

evangelist, I hope you understand our hesitancy in ascribing you to a perspective of sola scriptura. Almost every instance I've read of you talking about these incidents, you seem to place more emphasis on the writings of modern authors instead of the Scripture.

Would you mind answering this question, please? It will shed some light on something you wrote earlier. Thanks.

You can keep saying that but as long as you are having book studies and not Bible studies with non-believers and telling everyone who disagrees with you to read whatever book of the week you are reading your actions and practice are in contradiction to what you say you believe. And people will always believe actions over words.

From your repeated emphasis on books and theologians' opinions, you appear to place more importance on them than the Scriptures.

Not long ago, it was all things Way of the Master.

Um...try "hi, my name is...what's yours?"

You want to know what I take from what you wrote here? That you don't consider muslims people.

Know why Jesus found it so easy to eat with sinners? Because He didn't view them as "sinners"; He viewed them as individuals, who needed to hear Truth.

Classifying people de-humanizes them. It's a tactic used by military to make it easier to kill the enemy, exemplified by terms like "slope", "charley", "gook"; and more recently, "raghead", "towelhead", and "haji".

You have a tendency to do the same when you label people as calvinists, arminians, or semi-pelagians.

So here's what you might try: Pray. Then introduce yourself. Ask them something so you can learn something about them. Just as Jesus was a friend to sinners, make yourself friendly.

Then let us know how it went.

Try and avoid the judgments on me please and assumptions. Labels are useful for identification purposes and know where one stands. In a day of relativism and postmodernism they are frowned upon because everyone believes what they want to believe and each is right according to the philosophy of the day.

    1. Establish rapport with small talk.
    2. Ask them about their hope before Allah. They will likely talk about doing the daily prayers and maintaining the five pillars of Islam.
    3. Ask them if they are sure if Allah will accept them. Most likely they will not be able to give a full affirmative.
    4. It is good to show some knowledge of Islam, including references to the Qu'ran and possibly some a-Hadith. Examples:
    a. Surah 4:157 - the Qu'ran denies the Jesus was crucified, but that "it was made to appear" that way. Most orthodox Sunni Muslims believe Judas or Simon the Cyrene was crucified in the place of Jesus by mistake. Ahmedi Muslims believe that Jesus was crucified, but did die (swoon theory). If Allah's intention was that people were misled about Jesus dying by crucifixion, then He started Christianity by mistake. Ironically, only Muslims and radically skeptical atheists have any reason to believe that the historical Jesus of Nazareth died by crucifixion.
    b. Surah 5:46-47 - the Qu'ran says that Jesus confirmed what was in the Torah by the Gospel that was given to him. The Qu'ran then instructs the people of the Gospel (Christians) to judge by what Allah says in the Gospel. Basically, when we obey that command, we find that Mohammed contradicts it and he did not really know what was in the Gospel.
    c. Surah 4:171; 5:17; 5:72-75 and others deny the deity of Jesus, but seem to misunderstand the Christian teaching of the Trinity. It claims that Christians associate other "partners" or "gods" with Allah and even hints that Mohammed thought that the Trinity was Allah, Mary, and Jesus. If the Qu'ran is from Allah, He should have known what the Christian doctrine of the Trinity really was.
    5. Know the story in the Hadith (Sahih Bukhari Volume 4, Book 56, Number 676) of the man who killed 99 people and how Allah saved him. With some Hadith stories, people receive a lot of mercy and get into paradise. With other Hadith stories, there are those who are faithful and they do not make it.
    6. Explain the basis of forgiveness from God. In Islam, the forgiveness and punishment from Allah seems arbitrary. In Christianity all sin is punished (either in Christ or in the sinner without Christ). In Christianity, we have a perfect mediator through the God Man and His atonement on the Cross. In Islam, you have no mediator and no assurance.

    Hope this helps.

All you ever do is defend what you want to keep doing (in this case, "labeling"), without paying attention to what's actually been said.
