I believe He did that and more!

It is my opinion that Jesus made it known to the Pharisees in Matthew 19:3-6 (NKJV), while addressing their question on divorce, that marriage was to be between one man and one woman! I fail to see how a believer, a sinner, an atheist, and a liberal can ignore these verses when submitting an argument against same-sex marriage!

If you include the exhaustive study on the attached link, there is little doubt that the church has this argument won. http://www.openbible.info/topics/homosexuality Even the other relgions of this world, Islam for one, forbids same sex relationships, calling them perversion and of the devil!

"The Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to Him, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?” And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.” (NKJV)

Okay, here's the rub .... I know we live in a sinful world, and this entire movement to elevate same-sex marriage up to the level of Holy Matrimony is only one more attempt to pull down our Christian-Judeo morals and values.

Even so, I still believe if Jesus on earth in this day and age, rather than back 2,000 years earlier, He would have had a lot to say about the attempt to make sinful marital relationships equal to the Holy Union between a man and a woman!

I know many of you will have a diverse opinion, so take it from here. You've heard my rationale for the church to protest putting marriage on the same level as perversion, so, what say you?

It is not on the same level. Homosexualty is perverse, open and defient sin against God, and it is an abomination.

Where God's word speaks, what we believe is irrelevant.

There shouldn't be an argument. God defined marriage in Genesis 2 with the first man and woman. What's the church arguing with folks about? When will we get in through our heads that we should be pointing folks to Christ and not trying to win an argument.

Don't let folks in the wrong frame the conversation. They want to talk about "gay marriage". Tell em you want to talk about how Jesus saves.

They want to talk about abortion? Tell em you want to talk about how Jesus saves.

    .

There is no same -sex marriage. Stop confusing people into thinking there is. This is not about the singular issue of matrimony. That opens the door for an argument.

Frame the conversation. This is about SIN. All of it.

I don't. He would say exactly what He said back then. He spoke the truth and left it alone.

What I say is that the church needs to stop being led around by the reins of a sinful world like it's a bridled horse being led to water.

Protest about what? God has spoken. Preach the Gospel. There's nothing to protest.

I don't know, what do you think he would say about all the fat preachers who spend a bunch of time preaching against homosexuality, but fail to preach about gluttony?

Or what about all the pastors who think a full time pastorate is nothing more than more time to golf?

Or what about the 'Beta' marriage. Time magazine link for those who aren't aware.

So is eating catfish / shrimp / BBQ eel in sushi... rigging markets in a monetary way, and being dishonest, but you don't ever hear about those now do you.

Yea no one is trying to teach those things in our schools to our children as being acceptable. No one has turned those things into political issues and demand that people accept those things as normal and right. Politicians are not working to pass laws to make those things legal.

Most importantly those things you listed have far less respurcussions and create far less damage.

But then you already knew that.

Although there is nothing wrong with eating those foods.

Fried catfish is already acceptable. ;)

You don't pay attention much then. Let's take the whole market rigging thing. The level of corruption on wall street is insane, and our politicians pass laws to allow it. That's why guys like Henry Paulson end up being Secretary of the Treasury. He was CEO of Goldman Sachs and you're going to put him in charge of keeping wall street under control? As one example he knew good and well that derivatives were bad news yet he fought to keep them unregulated. Fast forward a little bit and everybody's all surprised that the market crashes, with unregulated derivatives being at the center of it.

As other examples, have you ever wondered why top officials at Montsanto end up being in charge of overseeing our food supply? You have never wondered why our laws favor large farmers who use Montsanto products?

Read my last sentence above. Our market crashed. People's life savings were wiped out. You, I, and everyone here was affected in a bad way. The world wide economy was more or less kicked in the groin. The DOW got down to what, 6,000 maybe less.

And somehow two people who love each other participating in a ceremony is worse?

And you just confirmed what I already knew. You support homosexuality. This post confirms that.

Not that I do, but regardless, I can't believe that anyone would believe that two gay people being together is worse than wrecking/gutting/raping the world economy.

and two wrongs do not make a right.

There have been threads on this board about obesity - some said it hurt their feelings.
(granted there are a few valid medical exceptions)

Rev - I don't know that I would go so far as to say this post confirms that corndogggy supports homosexuality, but it does confirm one thing...

It confirms that corndog, like basically every other human being on the planet, has a graduated scale of what sin they think is worse than another. It's a common practice of trying to apply man's law to God's law. Just like some people think that doing heroin is a worse sin than smoking pot, corndog appears to belief "theft" is worse than homosexuality.

When you dress sin up in a positive light you support that sin. And yes some sin is worse than others. This is due to the level of the consequences. God Himself destroyed Soddom because of it.

Hey, I am one of the "fat preachers" around here... The thing is, if you want a preacher to be "without sin" then you might as well admit that you don't want a preacher, because you're never going to find a human being "without sin." That does not justify the sin, but it owns up to our own humanity and our struggle with sin.

True, but one that is guilty of one part of the law is guilty of the whole law, per scripture. Otherwise you're going to establish a Catholic-like hierarchy of prayers and oblations for sin. Someone will have to say 10 prayers to get forgiveness for stealing $5 from a friends. Someone else will have to say 20 prayers to get forgiveness for sleeping around on their spouse.

That's not how God works. The only sin we're told is unpardonable is blasphemy against the Holy Ghost.

Also, just out of curiosity, do you truly believe that that is the only sin for which God exacted judgment on Sodom and Gomorrah?

Of course, wealth, inhospitality, pride, gluttony, laziness, ignoring the needs of the poor and widows, lying, filthy conversations, etc., had nothing to do with it right?

    Isaiah 1:10-17, Ezekiel 16:49, Jeremiah 23:14, 2 Peter 2:5-9

It's all about the gayness with guys like him. He's obsessed with it.
