What he said is something to the effect of "people imagine God as a magician with a magic wand capable of doing anything, but that is not the case."

What's not 100% clear from the quote is whether he said God is not capable. I don't believe that's what he meant. He said:

    God - magician
    Wand - capable of anything

To that he said no, and I would agree. God is not a magician, and God does not have a magic wand that is capable of anything.

He doesn't need a wand; He has His Word, which is enough.

I dont agree with the Pope's assessment on evolution, but it doesn't help matters to misrepresent what he said

I can't seem to get the video to play - my computer blocks it so I can't hear exactly what was said.

But I often say something similar, "the bible is not magic".

We can't manipulate it like a formula to make God give us what we want.

It was written to transform us; it wasn't written so we could control others.

Provide direct quotes where the Pope said that. Until you do, you are the liar.

(for the record, I believe the Catholic Church to be apostate and the Pope to be the leader of an evil organization)

The Pope did not call Jesus a liar or the Bible a lie. That is called false testimony.

However, he does disregard what Jesus and the Word of God teaches in regards to creation but that is nothing new. I went to Catholic school from 1976-1983 and I was taught the same thing from the nuns and priests.

Here's the original speech in context:
    Official Vatican Network
Francis in the Pontifical Academy of Sciences emphasises the responsibility of humanity in creation

Vatican City, 27 October 2014 (VIS)

    Excerpt:

I think as responsible Christians we have to ask why those sites calling themselves Christian, those commentators presenting from a Christian point of view on YouTube, would misrepresent his statement so as to stoke flames against him?

It's a bit contradictory to solicit attacks on his remarks in the name of God and Christ while misrepresenting his actual remarks in context as a fulcrum to leverage outrage toward the Pope.

There is wisdom in this comment.

The same sort of misrepresentation stuff goes on in the Political forum.

This has got to be one of the worst OPs I've seen here in a while. Goodness, its complete misrepresentation and outright lies.

Yes, we saw that misrepresentation of the truth link in the OP.
It has since been refuted by the truth in the link I provided.
Please don't insist on pushing the lie. This is a Baptist (Christian) forum. Thank you.

As a point of inquiry. Are you unaware of how to post a link using the toolbar above the reply window?
Let me help here. Click The link icon:[IMG]
A window will open. Paste the URL to the article you'd like to share and then click the "OK" button. You can even post something related to the link prior to this, highlight it by mousing over the text while holding the left mouse button down to highlight the text. Then click the link icon [IMG] and add the URL behind that text.
This makes your posting of links easier to access rather than having the reader have to highlight, copy, and paste into a browser window so as to access the information.

    I hope that helps you.

As to your remarks in this quote. I do believe the official Vatican network is a far more credible source for the Pope's pronouncements than the link you provided. Especially when comparing texts from both sites so as to realize that 'before its news" is not reporting the truth in this case.

That you insist an obvious falsehood supersedes the Vatican reporting leads one to realize you have an agenda. Why you would want to be known as someone who promotes lies about the Pope is your sin. I forgive you and hold you in my prayers. :praying:

Oh my gosh - you're using beforitsnews as a reliable news source? That's hysterical!! If that is so, it explains a lot.
