Another ominous example of why the two party monopoly is failing America

    TRANSCRIPT

Now that they’ve seized control of the Senate, will Republicans move to impeach President Obama?

The Family Research Council, one of the America’s most influential conservative lobby groups, last week called for the GOP to launch impeachment proceedings against Obama if they captured the Senate.

Ted Cruz, who built his reputation on attacking the President, is also set to butt heads with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, whom he failed to endorse. Some speculate that Cruz, who already wants to impeach Eric Holder, could launch an attempt to impeach Obama should the President try to pass blanket amnesty for illegal aliens by executive order.

Judge Andrew Napolitano also told Fox News this week that Obama could open himself up for impeachment if he attempts to legalize millions of immigrants who broke the law to enter the United States.

Then there’s a whole host of other reasons that could be used as grounds for the impeachment of Obama.

The attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, aiding terrorists in Syria, Fast & Furious, undermining the authority of Congress with regard to the attack on Libya, assassinating Americans via drone strikes, exceeding Congress’s power to regulate interstate commerce via Obamacare, amongst many others. Indeed, at least 27 of the 35 articles of impeachment introduced against George W. Bush by Dennis Kucinich also apply to Obama, and then some.

But while there are a plethora of reasons to impeach Obama, is the Republican leadership – are the RINO’s – really likely to get behind it?

Not in a million years. Why? Because it would hugely increase Hillary Clinton’s chances of victory in the 2016 presidential election.

    < snip >

What’s best for the United States in the 21st century is the impeachment of Barack Obama. But that’s not what’s best for the leadership of the Republican Party over the next 24 months.

Which is why impeachment is a forlorn hope, and an ominous example of why the two party monopoly continues to cause great harm to everything that America stands for.

:praying: I'll believe it when I see it. Boehner spewed his promise of a lawsuit against the man and just in time for the elections. Now crickets make louder references to that old yarn than he does in revisiting that promise.

They're all in it together I think. Power rules both sides of the aisle. It's like professional wrestling. It looks real but it's all scripted to fool the (tax)paying public.

No they will no impeach him. There is not point in even trying since they don't have 60 seats in the Senate

Start impeachment proceedings and the GOP runs the risk of alienating the majority of the country AGAINST it.

It will immediately look like their "thirst for power" was about revenge and not about moving the country forward in a positive direction.

Impeach Obama, and the GOP can hang it up for getting another GOP President any time in the near future.

"While impeaching Obama would undoubtedly be bad for the Republican Party going into 2016, it could be one of the only actions that will save America from collapse in the long term. Impeachment would finally set the precedent that the Constitution and the rule of law actually still means something. By failing to impeach both Bush and Obama, the benchmark that Presidents can violate the Constitution at will has been enshrined as the status quo. This is why America is turning into a Banana Republic." Paul Watson

So who cares about the constitution and rule of law right? Evidently not the GOP. Defending the constitution and rule of law would hurt the GOP's chances of getting one of their own in the WH.

That's a mighty sad commentary. But not unexpected. Like the democrats money and power are their gods.

They will try only if they have no historical memory.

Don't worry Crabby they won't even try. Zaac is right. They'd rather let the country go to the dogs in order to put one of their own in the WH than honor their oath of office. In this they are the same as those they just deposed.

Even if they could convict him of high crimes or treason, it would probably take most or all of the next 2 years to do it. All they would succeed in doing is putting Biden in office, who then would be eligible to run for a full term.

The people kicked the Democrats out of leadership because they blocked every bill from coming to the floor of the Senate and didn't pass a budget for years.

As the Republicans retained control of the House and gained control of the Senate, if they try to impeach President Obama, or defund ACA, or try to repeal it, or engage in any other political lunacy they will INSURE a Democrat victory in 2016. Not just the White House, but the House and Senate as well. The question is, are they bright enough to know that? Personally, I have my doubts. They are like cocaine addicts. They KNOW they are addicted, and their addictions will probably kill them, but just can't help it, they have to keep doing it. :(

Instead of playing stupid political games they have to FIX ACA so it does not bankrupt the government and give a windfall to insurance companies. Offer health assistance only to those who cannot afford it and want it. Let the rest of us do as we please. :)

And in my not entirely opinion, if the President vetoes any of fixes the Democrats will have to own that obstructionism in 2016, just as Harry Reid was forced, yesterday, to own his shut down of the Senate for the past 6 years.

So it's better to close our eyes to corruption than to hold people who have put the nation on the path to ruin accountable?

I wonder what the next POTUS would think no matter which party he or she comes from if the last POTUS was cooling his heels in the slammer for violating the constitution breaking our laws, international laws and defrauding the country?

Is putting one of our own in the WH so important that we'll dispense with any principle or sense of right and wrong?

Are we really that far gone? If these guys are allowed to get away with violating the constitution and ignoring the law what precedent does that set?

I'd rather have a democrat in the WH who knows he or she will be held accountable for their actions in 2016 than a republican that knows he or she won't be held accountable.

No. The GOP will appear to be vindictive. Image is everything.

The GOP would do well to remember what brought the dems into power in 2006. Americans are tired of war, tired of being spied on, tired of the spending, tired of corporations writing law, tired of all the same things team zero campaigned on, then ignored.

Benghazi, IRS scandal, Fast & Furious, all of these must take a back seat right now. People are hurting after 8 years of liberal congressional strangleholds, from both parties. Time to focus on the American people, and not look backward.

If they do this, they will stay in power.

Impeachment has never been on the table. It is a democrat scare tactic. Didn't work.

It would be nice to see that rule of law matters, but now is not the time.
