There is much about Ed Begley Jr. that I do not understand.

That's where Conservation comes in (sounds similar to conservative).

I had a 4th grade teacher who initially told us that conservation was saving our natural resources. Later, she said that was a poor definition - you could save your firewood and never use it - but it would eventually rot - then it would be of no use.
She amended here initial statement by saying "Conservation is using your natural resources wisely."
Mrs Quirk* was a very wise teacher

    * Yes that was her real name.

I was taught conservation from the time I could walk ... maybe before but I can't remember.

My dad was a soil conservation agent. I can still see work he did laying out contours on farm hillsides in the Shenandoah Valley. It makes me nauseous when I see what has been allowed in the raping of the once beautiful mountains of West Virginia. They are ruined forever. Nothing but weeds and scrub will grow where the mountain tops have been stripped to say nothing about what has happened to the creeks and streams.

God told mankind to tend the earth, not to rape and destroy it.

Yeah, what are we gonna do with those beavers that gnaw down trees and dam steams?
