Russia will soon publish a revamped military doctrine. Rumor has it that the U.S. and NATO will be designated as threats or adversaries or enemies. This speculation is bolstered by the statements of a senior Russian Defense Ministry General.

Even without an official document having yet been published, we can say now that the U.S. and NATO policies, especially as they have transpired over Ukraine, have caused this hardening of the Russian position. The U.S. is creating a new enemy: Russia. This is purposeful. Only a big enemy like Russia can get Americans to accept the costs of the American military levied upon them. Only a big enemy like Russia can be used to justify a big military establishment. The war on terror no longer provides enough of a justification for a people tired of such losing propositions.

India could be a buffer against China. China has realized their one child policy was a mistake since their population was aging.

I keep hearing people claim stuff like this but I see no one proving it.

You still haven't shown proof Russia fired shells into Ukraine. CMG and OR still haven't shown proof of "Russian aggression" prior to Washington's allegations and sanctions or a "Russian invasion" of Ukraine.

What it is with you guys? Do you think repeating the same allegations without proof over and over makes them true?

Trying to cover your own hypocrisy with this statement Rev?

Prove your claims like you expect everyone else here to do.

When it comes to Russia/USSR and America, things have NEVER been as they seemed or as the press has presented it. I know firsthand.

The cold war has never ceased and never will until it turns hot then we are all gone.

Be happy it never turned hot (well almost here and there).

The weapons development and build up after Nagasaki and Hiroshima was/is a phenomena. In 1961 Russia developed the "hydrogen" Bomb - 60 megatons, 1400 times the power of the Nagasaki-Hiroshima atomic bomb and can cause a blast hole 34 miles across of total death and destruction plus an unknown of lesser destruction.

They publicly tested Tsar Bomba (you can see the film footage of it on the Dr Strangelove movie trailer) or maybe a google tsar bomba.
During the movie trailer they played the song "We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when" - a chilling prophecy.

America was not so public with their nuclear arms developments and we did our testing underground (with an exception or two).

My family is a military family (including intelligence), most of us have "engaged" them during the cold war. I was stationed along the BMEWS (Ballistic Missile Early Warning System) line of defense which ran from N. NY to Thule Greenland for many years during the "cold war"

I'm out now so I can say what I think about "current" events.

There was a super bright light seen in the skies of Russia a couple of days ago.

    No one is claiming anything.

    Not a good "sign".

And our nuclear deterrent is decaying in part due to lack of funding, in part because of neglect, and in part because of the half=life of Tritium. Tritium, used in hydrogen bombs has a lake life of ~10 years. It has been almost 30 years since any was produced in this country unless it is being made in commercial power reactors which I believe is contrary to International protocol. You can do the numbers!

And how long has it been since a nuclear weapons test or even a ballistic missile test?

Who knows? And even if they knew, no one is talking.

    http://nuclearfreeplanet.org/categories/nuclear-power/tritium.html

And OBTW that's what I believed happened in Russia, a tritium trigger was set off as a test. Soon. We may well see a bigger piece of "the sun of the surface of the earth" test unless the Russians have perfected underground testing.

I noticed you've been trying to turn over a new leaf. You're last few posts look as though you're trying to convince us all that suddenly you're all about looking at the evidence to learn the truth.

Now that is laughable. Considering that you try to cozy up to people who like to spread unfounded allegations around and hide behind a veil of "baptist board credibility' to obscure the fact they cannot support their allegations with evidence when it might benefit you.

How many faces do you have anyway?

Warmongers and neocon hawks will seize upon an altered Russian military doctrine that names the U.S. as its primary adversary as evidence that Russia is indeed a threat and an enemy. This will be a lie. From the ending of the USSR to several years ago, there was no evidence that Russia was an enemy. It made no hostile moves on any surrounding countries or on the U.S. The recent moves of Russia with respect to Ukraine are responses to the U.S. moves, namely, the U.S. supported a violent change in Ukraine’s government and then a Ukrainian military campaign against its own people.

Most of you are saying the opposite. But none of you that have been saying this has offered any evidence to support what you've been saying.

What can it mean, I wonder?

Not too up to date on current events; but methinks Putin may know we have several nuclear subs with nuclear missiles programed to hit his vodka closet in his bedroom. This has been a pretty good deterrent so far.

On the lighter side, we do need a new arms race to stimulate the world economy. We could refurbish our DEW capabilities and work on some star wars stuff.

The real problem with the nuke stuff is the dirty bombs in the hands of groups like ISIS. They have no deterrent.

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Cold War Renewed With A Vengeance While Washington Again Lies

The Cold War made a lot of money for the military/security complex for four decades dating from Churchill’s March 5, 1946 speech in Fulton, Missouri declaring a Soviet “Iron Curtain” until Reagan and Gorbachev ended the Cold War in the late 1980s. During the Cold War Americans heard endlessly about “the Captive Nations.” The Captive Nations were the Baltics and the Soviet bloc, usually summarized as “Eastern Europe.”

These nations were captive because their foreign policies were dictated by Moscow, just as these same Captive Nations, plus the UK, Western Europe, Canada, Mexico, Columbia, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, Georgia, and Ukraine, have their foreign policies dictated today by Washington. Washington intends to expand the Captive Nations to include Azerbaijan, former constituent parts of Soviet Central Asia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia.

During the Cold War Americans thought of Western Europe and Great Britain as independent sovereign countries. Whether they were or not, they most certainly are not today. We are now almost seven decades after WWII, and US troops still occupy Germany. No European government dares to take a stance different from that of the US Department of State.
