A Lone-star Santa joined State Representatives Dwayne Bohac and Richard Raymond in an effort to raise awareness about the Texas Merry Christmas Law.

The legislation, which was signed by Governor Rick Perry in 2013, bans the censorship of traditional winter holidays like Christmas and Hanukkah by school districts.

The state law not only allows students and teachers to say “Merry Christmas,” it also allows schools to display Christmas trees, nativity scenes and menorahs.

"We can restore fun and magic to the Christmas and Hanukkah season, we can do this together, we can all get along, and have fun doing it," said Representative Bohac.

But as Representative Raymond, who co-sponsored the legislation pointed out, the law does not allow messages that encourage adherence to any religious belief.

"And we are not trying to make you believe in Christmas or Hanukkah, you don't have to, that's not what this is. What this is saying is its OK if you do, that's all," he said.

I'm tickled to death we do.

And disappointed that it was needed.

A solution to a non-existent problem. Waste of time and money.

How many people in Texas have been arrested or sued for saying Merry Christmas? When was the fun taken out of Christmas?

So basically Texas has decided they are words without meaning.

Note that the law was intended for school districts. There were schools in Texas that were not allowing faculty or students to wish each other Merry Christmas or Happy Hannukah for fear of lawsuits about observance of religion in schools. This law was meant to address that.

So the answer to my question is no one has been sued or arrested.

That pertains to handing out gifts with a Gospel message from a public school, not being sued for saying "Merry Christmas".

Then those school administrators need to grow some antlers and quit cowering. Look for a lawsuit challenging the Merry Christmas Law.

    -

and how many thousands of dollars will be spent on a lawsuit?
Even a threat of a lawsuit - not to mention the actual suit itself - is enough to make an impression.
    Schools cannot afford such litigation.

Since you are unable to do research - here is one
or is it you don't want to find a source?

and those gift boxes - where in the article did it state gospel tracts?

    From your article:
Allen Lichtenstein, general counsel for the Nevada ACLU, told Fox News Radio they are not to blame and never threatened to sue the school.

“Saying Merry Christmas does not create a problem for us,” he said. “There are certain people perhaps who want to make this into a conflict where personally I don’t see where there is any need for conflict.”

    I didn't say tracts. Anyway

    From the article:
The Samaritan’s Purse, a non-denominational Christian organization, sends shoeboxes filled with hygiene items, candy and gifts and a Gospel message to children around the world.

A group of SkyView students have been participating in the program for the past two years as part of their chosen community service project, Grove said.
