Ronnie Floyd's memory needs to be jogged------Southern Baptists took to the convention repentance and racial reconciliation nearly 20 years ago!!! It can be easily googled up in SBC archived history

How many more times must we "repent" of racial . . . ????

Apparently the old SBC didn't tell the new members of the SBC because there's some fresh repentance needed.

I remember being at the convention meeting the year that the subject was brought upon the business floor---the subject of repenting of the SBC's role in racism---their part they played in slavery---Jim Crow laws---etc. etc etc----then the convention president(Floyd was just a blur on the convention horizon then)led the members in confession and forsaking of that selfish sin of slavery

The vote was in the overwhelming majority(UNANOMOUS) that the SBC bring itself to confessing that particular role to God's throne and in asking our black brothers and sisters for forgivness

Confession was made to the throne of Almighty God----20 some odd years ago-----the act of asking forgivness was extended to the black race(in particular)----20 some odd years ago

Now-----here's what I told my wife who was with me at that particular convention

The Southern Baptist Convention has done the easy part----we've approached the very throne of God in confession of those past sins----we were repenting of sins that were not committed by those present---but we were repenting of sins that were committed by people who lived over 100 years ago----we were acting on their behalf---and reaching out to our black brothers and sisters in asking forgiveness in the present

The easy part was confessing the sin of slavery---of holding slaves---of mistreatment of slaves---of bigotry and hatred of people whos skin was tinted just a wee tad darker than our lily white skin

The easy part was done----20 some odd years ago

The hard part is this-----the hard part comes in the truth that our black brothers and sisters must move to forgive------to NOT forgive is just as ugly a sin as the sin of slavery that was confessed and forsaken of by the SBC!!

Scripture is crystal clear in the area of confessing of sin----God will hold us accountable for sins left unconfessed

But Scripture is also crystal clear in the area of forgiveness of our fellow brothers and sisters----white SBC members confessed that dastardly sin of slavery and began asking forgiveness-----I believe that God is going to hold the black community responsible for any area of unforgiveness equally as well as He will hold the white community responsible for any area of unconfession of the sin of their part in the arena of slavery.

Now here's the part that a lot white people in the SBC and outside the SBC are missing. Whites asked Blacks to be forgiven for the past atrocities and then continued in a new brand of atrocity that permeates the church and society. It's the kind of atrocity where white members of the SBC, just like so many on this board, refuse to acknowledge the new brand of racial prejudice and racism that pervades throughout the SBC and this nation.

SO yes God will hold the individuals in the black community responsible for their unforgiveness just as he will hold those individuals in the white community responsible for continuing a new brand of wickedness and acting like everything is okay just because Jim Crow was laid to rest.

What EXACTLY is this "new brand" of wickedness??

and what EXACTLY is this new brand of racial prejudice??

and what EXACTLY is this new brand of racism that runs amuck and rampant throughout the SBC??

I've been in hibernation evidently---because I'm missing out on the action----now that you know I'm white and a member of the SBC----please enhance your findings---because I believe that this "new brand"---is imaginative(sp) and phantom in the minds of many whos skin is darker than mine!!

Blackbird, if people would quit dialog with Zach the Race Baiter" his audience would be taken away.

By the way, you are absolutely right. Consider Paula Deen. She used the "N" word years ago and I heard multiple black personalities declare that could never be forgiven even through she repeatedly stated her repentance. Some in the black community will never forgive and will continue to perpetuate the racism myth until Jesus comes back. Floyd is wrong to continue to play the "race baiter" game with folks who will never forgive and move on.

That there white privilege perspective you just pushed lands dead smack in there. It's part of the marginalizing of anyone and their POV whose skin may be darker than yours as though they are crazy or that what they say just doesn't matter.

And the new brand of wickedness has been on full display on this board for years. The only way to miss it is to hide behind the white-privilege blind spot that says "everything is hunky dory because we're not strangin' em up in the county square anymore".

Yet it's always the ones who brandish their overt racial prejudice who are always talking about race baiting. Go sit with Sean and Rush and Al and Jesse.

Perhaps some in the black community aren't forgiving because a lot in the white community refuse to acknowledge the ongoing racism and racial prejudice that so many in said white community wants to narrate as having gotten so much better?

Perhaps their reality differs from the fairy tale that folks in the white communities want to tell themselves so that they can sleep at night and go to church on Sunday and act like they aren't part of the problem?

I give you my word as a Born again Believer in the Lord Jesus Christ---that if I----as the whitest white person in the county----were to invite you over for Christmas dinner---that I will look at you through the eyes of the Lord Jesus---I will see you through the cornea/iris/Optic nerve of the Lord Jesus and I will think of you as only the Lord Jesus can think of you---and not only I---but my wife also will be looking at you as only the Lord Jesus looks at you---and my children will be looking at you as only the Lord Jesus looks---and my father in law and mother in law and my brother in laws and their wives and children----that sin of prejudice---dear friend--for me---was destroyed on the cross of Calvary----how about your sin of prejudice??? Was it destroyed on the same hill as mine was????

Because ---- dear friend---when Jesus Christ traversed through the forbidden land of Samaria----the only arrow He "Let fly" was the arrow of His love and forgiveness----and that very same arrow of Agape Love that pierced the heart of a loveless Samaritan woman who could have just moments before Jesus arrived at the very well that so pictured Himself--could care less for the Jews--that Samaritan woman had the same hate in her heart toward the Jews as the Jews had hate in their hearts toward the God forsaken half breeded Samaritans ----that same Arrow of Agape Love that pierced the heart of that lieing, hateful, Jew hateing, husband stealing, adulterating Samaritan has so pierced my heart that it would be a sin for me to see you as anything less that who the Lord Jesus sees when He looks at you!!!

And that may well be the case for lots of Christians, blackbird. It should be the case for ALL Christians. But this Southern Baptist board shows that it is absolutely not the case for a lot of folks who call themselves Christians.

It's gotten immensely worse as so called Christians have gotten angrier and more angry about politics and things associated with politics. Because of this increase of wickedness, the love of many has grown cold and continues to grow colder.

And that wickedness is on full display here everyday by what those in the majority say about those who aren't in the majority.

And it is apparent that a lot of folks have assumed that they know something about me that they don't. I've never divulged that type of personal information nor would I divulge any type of personal information that wasn't needed. There are those amongst us who make assumptions that because I say A, then B must be true.

It highlights another level of racial prejudice that is epidemic in the church.

You mean like "More Bad News For Race Hustlers" or "Black lives count ... I Disagree!!!" O Why not have a Congressional White Caucus?

Or maybe referring to black people as thugs. Or we need to take our country back or he's ruining our country.

There is a sickness that's hard to describe because like the frog in the boiling pot of water, people have gotten used to it and on some levels agree with it.

Dude----some of the most dreaded thugs I've been in contact with through the years have been white people---one that comes to mind have been some of my very own church members-----one lady in particular---knocked on my door---gave me a sob story about her momma needed an operation and the hospital was refusing to treat her without the money up front----she told me and my wife that she needed $1000.00-----later it was proven that she took my money along with several others she had conned and blew it at the gambling boats in Natchez, MS---long story short---that little white bitty robbed us(my wife and I) of $1000.00!!!-----she robbed us of that money without a gun in her hand pointing toward us----that white lady was a unarmed thug!!!

I've been bullied by white men---both verbally and physically---threatened to the inch of my life by both white men and white women---and by white masons

On the other hand----I have been broken down on side of the hiway---and have had black men to stop and offer assistance---one in particular---walked up to me while I was changing a flat tire----and says to me MISTER!!! LET ME CHANGE THAT TIRE FOR YOU!!! Complete with the YES, SIR!! NO SIR!!! manners

Don't give me the BLACK THUG thing----dude---there's thugs out there that belong to every race under God's sunlight!!! Stop the thug talk----I don't need to hear it!!!

The thug thing is very real. You're again talking about perspective that doesn't have a racial tinge to it from your experience. But by and large, a racial aspect has been added to the word. The same thing for referring to Blacks as animals or like Darren Wilson saying Mike Brown looked like a demon.

He could have said whatever he wanted to say. But what he DID say added to the race narrative in this country that a lot of white people view , specifically , black men as , bigger, more violent ,more aggressive and almost like animals.
