Cool site...thanks for providing it here.

This is a bit off topic, but I'm going to ask anyway because you may know and I do not. Why is the KJV called the "authorized version," and on the site the "official" KJV? I know it was never actually "authorized" and have always wondered where that came from.

It was authorized by King James of England ( and is still under copyright there)

Not sure about "official". Probably something the author of the site came up with to make it sound more "official".

Thanks...I actually knew this but for some reason things were not "clicking" for me this morning. For some reason I was thinking of it being authorized as the official Bible rather than it being authorized in terms of producing a translation to unite the Church of England. Anyway, thanks for putting me back on target.

That website does not actually present the exact text of the 1769 Oxford edition of the KJV as it suggests.

What it claims is the 1769 text is not actually the 1769, but is likely a much later 1900's edition of the KJV.

Has there ever been a single KJV text received as THE word of God, even by those holding to KJVO?
