When a person passes from this life to the "next" and a picture is provided for the Funeral notice, at what age should the picture show the deceased?

I see some where the person ceased in their 90's and they show a picture of them at 18. Another shows the person in their mid life.

At what point in your life do you want the picture to capture you.
Current or Many years ago or perhaps a split screen?

It's really up to the family to post what picture they want and there is no right choice. My mother died at 63 and a year before she passed away she looked incredibly healthy but by the time she battled with breast cancer for 6 months, she looked about 100 years old. I believe we used a picture that she had professionally done when she was in her 50s.

For me, I don't really care. Whatever picture my family wants to use is fine with me. :)

Sorry to hear of your mothers pain. I think 10 or so years still conveys the person especially if they had draining health issues near passing.

I think I like the split ages picture idea.

When each one of my four grandparents died and three aunts, family members chose pictures that brought them joy.

What is with the fascination with death the last few days? Is there a full moon?

As the person who puts together the slide shows for funerals and assists the family in choosing photos, I find I even creep myself out when I look at friends' facebook pictures and think "Oh! Good funeral picture!" LOL

The last funeral I preached was for a WW2 vet who was a member of my church----his wife and children put up a collage of various photos of his hitch in the US Navy---there was pics of his training and subsequent cruises to and patrols in the south Pacific!!

    My sermon was appropriately titled

    The Greatest Generation

When my wife passed away early last year, I decided not to include a picture with her obit. Instead, what I, and her family decided to do, was to gather pictures of her from childhood up to Christmas 2013 and have a family friend put together a video montage(sp?) of all the pictures and have it play in the background during the viewing.

I am saddened for you, hearing of your loss. May God bless in your recovery.

Our local funeral homes do the "montage" thing for the family. Pictures are provided and they post the video "on line" on their page. But with the announcement of death, a picture usually accompanies that and it was that I was curious about. Often the picture is of them years and years ago when I may not have knew them.
