Attempting to reason with the false teachers has landed me a few that are willing but most are not. Perhaps I should not reason but just condemn as John the Baptist, Jesus, and Jude did. Read the book of Jude and no friendly language is used towards them. Perhaps I need to do more of this especially with false teachers that refuse to reason and humble themselves and REPENT!

Jesus did not attempt to reason with proud false teachers and neither did Peter in his books. I may be preparing second wave letters to many of the false churches that I have mailed and perhaps I will just write and condemn instead of attempting to reason with them and preach the good news. Ideas????

Sounds like a fabulous idea to me. Write them a scathing letter, condemn them to Hell as the prideful false teachers that they are, quote some verses out of context, suggest a book they should read, maybe enclose a Calvinist tract. Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

How about you study the Bible more then you read books and write angry letters. And instead of trying to pick fights witness to those people God has already brought you into contact with like people at work.

You did ask for ideas, but I will wait for my bunny now.

I have never understood leftest, liberal, communists, who think it is ok to tell others what to do. All of us fallen prideful folks want to do what we think best, and do not want to be willing slaves of the governing class. Perhaps 25% of all people have "control freak" tendencies where even if we do not know the way, we want to lead the rest.

Jesus said folks should not tolerate false teachers within their own assembly, but to think this indicates we should tear down other servants is questionable. What happened to all those verses that speak of carefully chosen words turning away wrath?

Are we not Baptists rather than top down churches like RCC.

If you are absolutely set on doing something like this, then at least follow the biblical steps. Don't be militant in your confrontation, as you have claimed in the past, but instead reprove and rebuke with longsuffering and doctrine. Don't rely on the words of other fallible men, but appeal to the holy Word of God. Do so with humility. Don't brag on what you are doing, because you are doing nothing but your job. Whatever you do, what ever any other person does, the only way it increases is through God. If they won't hear it, then shake the dust off your feet and move on.

    Have you considered an AK-47?

Personally, I think you're going down the wrong road but who am I? In the meantime charge ahead.

...you might want to read up about the charge at Waterloo? Napoleon?

Maybe you could threaten to hold your breath until they repent.

I have always used plain scripture alone in all previous letters to false churches.

God will draw his elect at his time and it's possible these false teachers are not the elect so they will not repent. All I am required to do is warm them and some of my letters have done this, but others were more an attempt to reason without a warning of Hell.

Puritan Reformed theological seminary endorses a certain book on Hell that I have read and have fallen in love with. The author makes a strong case for gently warning people about the burning hell. Such a warning won't compromise or hold back doctrine but will entail various biblical passages about the burning place. Luke 16 would be one passage as well as the book of Jude.

The false teachers will have a hotter hell than others according to the Bible. As RC SPROUL said once I need to create fear and trembling so that they will repent.

Is Paul Washer going to preach in your church this year? Did you not boast about this in a previous thread?

No, he is not! My church would not have the likes of Washer in the pulpit.

Now, what does this have to do with the price of feathers?

No wonder you act the way you do. You need some solid preaching. You need meat but are getting candy. Do you grow?

What does this have to do with your OP?

You don't know much about me. You certainly don't know what kind of preaching I'm getting, but I think it is solid and edifying. If you want to see what kind of preaching I'm getting, here is the message from last Sunday:

    http://vimeo.com/116487901

It's an evangelistic message geared to visitors and kind of a recap for believers. If you want to skip ahead to the stuff that you're always going on about, i.e. making Jesus the Lord of your life, repentance, people saying a magic prayer, etc. just go to the 20 minute mark and watch from there.

Evan - Do you ever wonder why you get off on the wrong foot with people? Who are you to criticize the preaching that goes on at someone else's church, when you have no knowledge of it?

My church wouldn't put Paul Washer in the stand, either. He has slammed the Romans method of salvation as laid out by Paul. He claims that those of us who hold to the notion that the preached gospel will stir within a person and lead them to repentance are "stupid evangelists." Washer claims that repentance is a continual process changing life and, while there is truth to that statement, there is also truth to the ideal that a changed life is the natural product of repentance. His notion of continual repentance borders on works salvation, even though he does hide it under the guise of Lordship Salvation. He also seemingly mocks the idea of an experience of grace, instead pushing this idea that what we do is the evidence of our salvation, rather than what God did for us. In fact, he calls an experience of grace a "silly profession."

Washer is right in that the church has failed in its job of ushering new converts into a spiritual walk. But I would not wish anyone try to begin their spiritual walk under his leadership.

ITL: You do not need to prove anything to EVANG. It will be ignored anyway if it does not meet his criteria for acceptance.
