I read his full script on SBC voices website. I did not know his son had committed suicide last year. Despite his shortcomings, we all need to pray for his healing.

I just watched/listened to a so-called sermon of his from 2 months ago.

He does not belong in a pulpit. The thing was 45:01 long and 43 minutes was filled with nonsense --which is his M.O.

I spoke the truth. You are not speaking the truth.

Listen for yourself and then admit you are wrong.

Not a fan of Caner, but I sympathize with him and his family as they wade through the aftermath of their sons death.

Think of him what you may. He's still a Brother-in-Christ and worthy to be lifted up in prayer before God's throne.

I'm actually surprised he didn't step down earlier after his son's suicide. But staying busy is often a way to keep from falling completely apart in times of tragedy.

Your not worried about truth. You are worried about hating on Caner because he opposed calvinsim. You guys need to let him be.

These comments do not apply to those who posted encouraging and Christlike comments on this thread.

I'm new to the forum, and realized fairly quickly that there is much backbiting, many hateful remarks, and generally unChristlike attitudes on this forum. After a few weeks, I moved on and found a forum where Christlikeness is exhibited, maybe not in each and every post, but the overall environment is one of encouragement and Godliness. However, from time to time, I would come back and take a look at the BaptistBoard. Maybe it's the same reason people look at car wrecks - not a pretty site, but you can't turn away.

The title of this thread attracted my attention, and I began reading. I was shocked to see the attacks on a brother in Christ, especially at such a vulnerable time in his life. Some would respond saying he wasn't a brother, but a wolf in sheep's clothing. That really doesn't matter in this context. He's a hurting individual. He needs love and prayer, not people who profess to be believers attacking him on forums.

I have no relationship with Dr. Caner. I don't go out of my way to follow news about him. I am aware of some things that have come to light in the last few years about him. However, what did Jesus tell the crowd who wanted to stone the prostitute - “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.” I am not Dr. Caner's judge. And neither are any of you. The words of some in this thread are destructive and rancid. I can only think of 1 John 3:13-15 - "Do not be surprised, brothers, that the world hates you. We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. Whoever does not love abides in death. Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him."

And before you jump to your keyboards, none of us are in a position to judge him and decide whether he is a "brother" or not. I would not have been surprised to see these comments on a secular site. However, being a "Christian" site, I felt like I had been punched in the stomach.

I don't disagree that this was his history, but from what I read he and his family are really hurting right now. What happened with his background story will always be a part of his own narrative and something to be considered if he should choose to step back into the public arena, but that time isn't now. He deserves our sympathy, not because he has earned it, like any of could ever really do that, but because in his own words he and his family are broken and in need of healing.

You are not into the truth.

You deliberately falsify things I say and believe.

I do not "hate on" Ergun. He doesn't belong in the ministry for reasons apparent to anyone with a degree of discernment. It has nothing to do with his anti-Calvinistic slant.

Have I opposed Mark Driscoll for his pulpit misconduct? My opposition to anyone is not due to their take on Calvinism.

:applause::applause: It's a shame that regardless of what he may or may not have done in the past, that we can't take just a minute , in lieu of everything that he's gone through in the past few months, to just pray for the Brother.

My prayers are with Dr Caner and his family. He needs time to restore himself and them.

That is all we need to say here.

I am pretty much in agreement with BlueMoon. Time and time again, folks doing disreputable things to embellish their resume.

But as a father, I can only imagine what it would have done to me to lose a 15 year old son to suicide.

Whether Dr. Caner is a wheat or a tare doesn't really matter, what matters is our love and compassion for those who believe they are our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Uh, your inability to refrain from tearing him down in a hateful manner tells on your heart. Given that he and his family are going through such a time and you continue this ungodly behavior is only further telling of your heart.

I wonder if any of us here actually rejoice in tribulation? A hard lesson for any Christian. Perhaps we all need to re review the Sermon on the Mount for a firm understanding of what our Lord stressed.

    That refuses to repent.

I hope he comes back and would tell me the website info on this one.

Your "uh" was just the beginning of your nonsensical post.
