    From another thread

Note: for this discussion the definition of denominaton will be "of like belief" NOT a higher headquarters.

So, who thinks that the SBC, GARBC, BBF, ect are considered a business. If so, why/

Belief does not make a business, and like belief doesn't amount to cohorts.

SBC is a business. What makes the denomination a business is the financial structure, the politics, etc

From a fiscal point of view, all churches are businesses...non-profit oriented, but still businesses.

Anytime you deal with budgets, revenues, and outflows, you've got a business.

What business are you referring to:

In addition there is a financial structure and politics in a local church - just on a smaller scale.

Yes, even the local "church" is a business. Hence, business meetings.

They have cash flow, in and out, hence finance committees. They hire employees, hence personnel committees. They are run exactly like a corporation, with boards and such. They acquire properties through investment...ehem...ministry opportunities.

They appoint people to positions, rather than God calling people to positions.

    Yeah, it's a business

or is it the church leaders seek Gods will in whom to lead them.

So, am I to go to a church and say "The Lord has told me to become pastor of this church" Are they oblige to accept me?

    Baptist is a factory...

    Chicken-slaughtering factory...

    --chicken and dumplings
    --fried chicken
    --baked chicken
    --chicken cassarole
    --cooked chicken

Without Baptists, the USA would be overpopulated with chickens...

I've always heard the saying "We're in the soul saving business". Not to mean that we are the ones who save them, it is a work of God. But we are in the business of doing everything we can to bring people the opportunity.

A church has cash flows, as stated before. It is a business, but it's return on this earth is limited. The retirement plan is out of this world, though!

Ideally, yes. But I'm not too optimistic about that being reality.

That might be more effective than looking at the Semitary

Further study of: denomination, sects and such see: New Advent Encyclopedia, "Sect and Sects". See also: "Baptists".

Consider: true Baptists are not a protestant denomination. They are sovereign entities without governing boards or synods. They answer only to their founder: Jesus, the Christ. They were not initiated by men/women and are not controlled by a state. Their faith and practice goes back to the shores of Galilee when the first church was called out. They have been preserved through the gates of hell.

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Nose plugs in: Jesus told His little flock He would never leave them nor forsake them; and that He would be with them to the end of the age--through the gates of hell.

He has kept His promise. He is faithful, even when we are not.

The stench is from the faithful being burned alive, baptize their infants. How soon we have forgotten.

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
