Senate bill would give concealed carry across state lines the same reciprocity ‘as a driver’s license’

    http://personalliberty.com/senate-bill-give-concealed-carry-across-state-lines-reciprocity-drivers-license/

Fast-forward to now: A Senate Republican has introduced a reciprocity bill that would impose on every state a legal obligation to recognize the concealed carry permits of travelers hailing from any other state where they obtained their concealed carry permits.

The so-called Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act (CCCRA), according to Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), the bill’s sponsor, is intended specifically to “eliminate some of the ‘gotcha moments,’ where people inadvertently cross state lines” without realizing that doing so can automatically make them a potential criminal.

Republicans rule, it'll get passed this time. IMO, if they had been following the constitution to begin with such a bill as this wouldn't be necessary. I'm all for 'reciprocity', I carry 24-7 everywhere I go.

Thanks, we agree 100%. One of the problems that Hoosiers face is that we cannot carry if we go to Illinois.

Even here in the People's Republic of Washington MANY people do likewise including women.

On the weekends in my neighborhood you can hear the gun fire practice until Sunday evening and occasional during the week (but that usually means trouble has been put down).

And it'll get vetoed by Obama, and sent back to see if they can overturn the veto....

Total agreement here. Anybody in business would soon feel the the lack of same (business) - unless they were catering to an exclusive bed-wetting clientele.
Course then the perps would know exactly which establishments to avoid & which to cater to.

And I've no doubt the republicans are banking on him vetoing it, more ammo to use against the democrats come 2016; lots of Americans still get riled if they perceive 2nd amendment rights getting trampled on.

Reciprocity is already the supreme law of the land. The US Constitution, Article IV, Section 1: "Full faith and credit shall be given in each state to the public acts, records, and judicial proceedings of every other state. And the Congress may by general laws prescribe the manner in which such acts, records, and proceedings shall be proved, and the effect thereof."

It is this clause in the US Constitution which causes each state to recognize the marriage licenses of all other states. It causes each state to recognize the drivers licenses of all other states. And it should cause each state to recognize the concealed carry licenses of all other states.

We will not win this battle in the House or Senate. It can only be won in the Supreme Court of the US. They must rule that Article IV, Section 1 of the US Constitution is incorporated to the states. In order to do that some brave soul will have to carry in a prohibited state, get arrested, convicted, and appeal the conviction all the way to the US Supreme Court.

Any brave souls out there? :)

May I add one point - especially with a drivers license. It is recognized - as a visitor to the State or Commonwealth. However, after moving to that State or Commonwealth - you are required to obtain a new license. The only exemption being military personnel on PCS orders. BTW, some States or Commonwealths will require dependents of military personnel to obtain their license.
