Lots of christians these days do not take hell seriously. They ignore it, avoid it, and underemphasis it. Few preach on it, and most evangelism avoids it.

There is a book I just finished Hell on trial which lists every instance in scripture where Hell is spoken. You will see that contrary to what most believe Hell is spoken of in more places than Luke 16. This is a literal account where names are mentioned and no parable as some believe.

Even some are trying to get me to avoid hell when I go to abortion centers. Sorry that ain't gonna happen! I preach on hell and that God is angry with sinners everyday. I preach the law, but I also will preach Gods grace and Gods love for sinners.

The puritans took Hell seriously, so did Jesus, and so should we. Do you love people? If so preach on Hell. People have a terminal disease. Why not lead them to a doctor that can save them? People are walking on a train track. Why not steer them off the track and onto the road? BUT TO DO SO you MUST convince them that they are headed to hell.

Do you have some statistics on that? Few and most is subjective at best. How few is few? 5%? 25%? How many is Most? 95%? 75%?

What does Hell on Trial say about how few or many?

I do not win anyone to Christ. God draws his elect to salvation and may or may not use me in the process. I am glad if he does but he may choose another or perhaps one of my tracts that I pass out.

I model the example of Jesus whom preached on hell more than heaven. It's not a method its scripture.

The KJV may have it wrong as the ESV says otherwise. ESV uses more modern MSS evidences.

The ESV says "captures" both communicate the same idea. A distinction without and difference.

Proverbs 11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

There is no Hebrew MSS variant here.

That doesn't answer my question. If this is a problem in the church we should know how prevalent it is.

Here is a list of all the sermons in the book of Acts preached by Peter, Paul, Stephen, Barnabas, Mark, or any other believer that mentions Hell:

The entirety of the Peter's sermon is not recorded in Acts 2. We only get a snipet. He very well could have spoke about hell as it was spoken of by Jesus while Peter sat directly under His teaching for three years.

Act 2:40 And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, "Save yourselves from this crooked generation."

Don't base your whole theology from one verse.

This sentence is inaccurate. I have not presented my "whole theology". I did however present a verse that directly contradicts the failed semantical argument you made earlier.

It would be impossible for anyone to present their "whole theology" in any one post. Also, your response here does nothing to answer the objections to your claim. It only makes it appear that you made a statement in which you cannot defend from among the vastness of your "whole theology". So what we have so far is:

    1. You made the statement that we do not win people to Christ without any biblical evidence to support your initial claim.

    2. You responded to the scripture I provided that proved your semantical argument false with nothing more than another semantical argument over translation choices.

    3. You then ignored my response to that and moved on to an inaccurate claim about my "whole theology" and still nothing from scripture to support your claim.

So what we now know you made a claim based on not one single scripture (and then complained that I used one).

Evan is once again trying to rationalize his evangelical techniques. His way is correct; we are incorrect.

Same thing with the Abortion/Free Speech thread, the Abortion, What are You Doing thread, the Soul Winning or Evangelism thread, the Child Evangelism thread, the Great Sin of Evangelicals thread, and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on...

I wonder if he will "sneak a peak" at your post and comment on it.
