Umemployment Benefits

This is the way I look at it. I did not get a degree until later in life. I was never one day without working as a high school graduate. I saved, tithed, house is paid for, and both kids have a bachelors degree without one cent of debt. If I can do it, anyone can. Therefore I see no purpose in unemployment benefits.

 

Obama raised taxes on the rich-- via higher tax brackets, capital gains and dividends ($123 billion) , Medicare ($86 billion) , Social Security ceiling, etc. How old is this cartoon?

Considering that the federal government paid out $94 billion in unemployment benefits in 2012 and Obama's new taxes on the wealthy raise much more revenue than that, your cartoon is ridiculously misleading, actually stupid.

Oh, you still haven't told me how government policies have taken money from the middle class and given it to the wealthy.

I never gave a second thought to unemployment benefits. When I got laid off or lost a job, I went and got another one.

 

Well Mr. Salty, until I finally got there job where I would be 36 years, they were not all layoffs. I had several "take this job and shove it" moments.

57 Democrats and 41 Republicans in the Senate
256 Democrats and 178 Republicans in the House

All serving under a Democrat President.

If you have a problem with tax rates and unemployment benefits since 2008 you need to take it up with your liberal friends. Just like with Obamacare - they were in charge of it.

 

Congratulations to you:thumbs: not attempting to be nosey but are you talking about skilled labor jobs that required said years of experience, expertise and education? I mean were you a le to match your salary expetations? And then did your age factor into the employment synerio (sic) ?

 

I was an electronics tech, so yes, I suppose that is skilled labor. My job included servers, networking, and an array of electronic equipment. I said I did not get a degree (actually 2) until later in life, but did go to several years off and on of advanced electronics training. The age factor, well, I am not sure. I retired at 57 from my main job. Since then, I have had a few jobs. I worked at an adult day care for two years. I am now working in security 2 days a week at a PVC plant. The Lord was always with me, as I did not go more than a week ever without a job. I thought about one of my responses, and it was really not fair. It shows pride on my part, when God could have made things quite different. I think unemployment payments are a wonderful thing for those who cannot find a job all that quick. It is a good use of government money for those workers through no fault of their own, need a bridge to the next job. I really do not know when I will quit for good. I am executor of my Dad's estate (died Jan 25) and trying to sift through this tangled web. There are four of us siblings, and one step mother, so you can imagine the rest.
