Two years ago, I posted a prayer request for a co-worker who lost her baby.

    http://www.baptistboard.com/showthread.php?t=85977

Almost six weeks ago, she delivered a very healthy and wonderful baby boy. :flower:

Two days ago, she (Stephanie) found out that she has brain cancer. :tear:

She is having surgery this morning at 7:00 am Central and the surgery is supposed to last between 8 and 12 hours.

Please pray for Stephanie's healing today and for those who love her to bear this with peace and faith. This is very hard on some of the friends and family who are struggling with the "why's" of it all.

Stephanie is out of surgery. They weren't able to get all of it, but did get most of it.

They said the next several days would tell what's next - treatments, more surgery, or what.

She recognized her husband and spoke a little to her mother. The family said that they felt encouraged.

Stephanie is in a lot of pain. Even people talking hurts her head.

They took about 2/3's of her frontal lobe and were afraid she would lose 5 years of her life. She has no memory loss, thank the Lord. :flower:

The mass that they were able to get was sort of unique. The outside was benign and the malignant part was encapsulated inside. I don't know about the small piece that they couldn't get to.

They are just still waiting on more pathology reports and tests to decide what's next.

    Not good news.

We got the news today from the family that the cancer is a glioblastoma level 4. They said this was not what they wanted to hear.

Stephanie is still in pain and her head is still swollen. That's part of it.

This past Sunday was supposed to the be the first Sunday that she could take her new baby boy to church. She asked to have church in her hospital room and her husband, parents, baby, and her siblings and a few others had a church service led by her father. They even had the Lord's Supper.

She's a fighter and has a drive like I've never seen to live and raise this baby that she has suffered to have.

We never know why these things happen, but Job suffered greatly and was brought back to health and restored.

This is my prayer for Stephanie and I covet more of your prayers for her sake and God's glory.

Today (Tuesday 4/7) Stephanie gets her staples removed and Thursday she, her husband, her baby, her mother, and her mother-in-law will be traveling out-of-state for a treatment consultation. They will be there about a week.

She will come back for two weeks to spend time with family and then will travel back for 30 - 45 days of an initial treatment.

She is still so very positive and her mother is still so very devastated. Her mother needs prayer as much as Stephanie does.

UPDATE: It's been 4 months since all this happened.

Stephanie has finished the last of many rounds of radiation and is headed for some rounds of chemo.

The doctors are relieved at how the radiation has stopped anymore growth. Her initial diagnosis has changed to a type of a similar cancer that has a prognosis of up to 7 to 10 years as opposed to the terrible initial prognosis of just months.

Stephanie says that she just wants to see her little boy grow up as much as possible.

Some would balk at 7 to 10 years, but everyone is considering it a joy and Stephanie says that she plans on teaching again this fall - I don't know about that, but she is determined.

Thank you for your prayers. She and her family say over and over that this is what has given them steps of healing and hope.

When you are a mama, ANY extra time with your kids is a blessing!! 7-10 years is amazing and who knows what kind of progress there will be in medicine in those years that might make it "until natural death" instead of a time limit? :) Praise God that she has more time with her kids!

That 7 to 10 years sounds like quite a blessing. I currently have patient that is 10 years post stage 4 and going strong. All cases are different and of course new and better treatments may happen within that time. There is always hope, will pray for the best.
