March 27, 2015 (Tony Cartalucci - NEO) - The "proxy war" model the US has been employing throughout the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and even in parts of Asia appears to have failed yet again, this time in the Persian Gulf state of Yemen.

Overcoming the US-Saudi backed regime in Yemen, and a coalition of sectarian extremists including Al Qaeda and its rebrand, the "Islamic State," pro-Iranian Yemeni Houthi militias have turned the tide against American "soft power" and has necessitated a more direct military intervention. While US military forces themselves are not involved allegedly, Saudi warplanes and a possible ground force are.

Though Saudi Arabia claims "10 countries" have joined its coalition to intervene in Yemen, like the US invasion and occupation of Iraq hid behind a "coalition," it is overwhelmingly a Saudi operation with "coalition partners" added in a vain attempt to generate diplomatic legitimacy.

The New York Times, even in the title of its report, "Saudi Arabia Begins Air Assault in Yemen," seems not to notice these "10" other countries. It reports:

    The New "Normal?"

Saudi Arabia has exercised unilateral military force against a neighboring sovereign state without any notable threat being presented to its own national security. This is naked military aggression by every count. And while the US and UK have openly supported Saudi Arabia in its actions, not even the veneer of UN approval has been applied to this act of war.

Is this the new "normal?" Bombing and invading a country because a foreign power doesn't like the government, without even the semblance of international law being applied? Judging by the "calm" supportive response from the United States and British governments, and the muted tone of what is essentially a naked military invasion of a sovereign country, it is clear that we are expected to believe as much.

In contrast, consider the unhinged hysteria seen across the West when Russian troops uneventfully entered Crimea and held a peaceful referendum that overwhelmingly sought to return the peninsula back to Russia.

Saudi Arabia has begun bombing Yemen, and has plans to send in troops in addition to the already ongoing covert and semi-covert support the regime and its US sponsors have been providing proxy forces within Yemen from the US-engineered "Arab Spring" onward.

    1. Obama's family are all shia and Obama favors the shia, i.e. Iran.

    2. Since when does anyone have to go to the UN about anything?

You are not delusional, Poncho. I am not a shrink, so I certainly can't make that diagnosis.

But as for your title, it is my understanding that the US is not involved in this battle.

In fact, I am willing to give Obama a hand :applause:, because in his attempt to pull out of the war ISIS has claimed against us, and by not going all ut to break and defeat this group, he has succeeded in getting the ARABS to fight fellow ARABS (okay, different, divided tribes, but?) and that is the only way terrorism can be stopped. The Arabs need to fight this war, lose bodies, and send a message to ISIS and Iran that they are fed up with radical Islam!

I can't believe I gave Obama kudos, but I see his plan, either intentional or not intentional working by getting these enemies of a lifetime to fight it with their own men!
    :applause:

    That was a great "pun!"

A lot of folks say I am not diplomatic, so I thought I'd try to prove them wrong.

    An Introduction to Yemen’s Emergency

By Helen Lacker, who has worked in all parts of Yemen since the 1970s and lived there for close to 15 years. She has written about the country’s political economy as well as social and economic issues. She works as a freelance rural development consultant in Yemen and elsewhere and is currently also engaged in research on hydro politics in Yemen. Her latest book as editor: – Why Yemen Matters, Saqi books 2014. This piece first appeared at Open Democracy on January 25, 2015.

The determination of the mass street demonstrations and occupations throughout the country in 2011 were insufficient to firmly exclude the former ruler from future involvement in Yemeni politics. Although Ali Abdullah Saleh was forced to abandon the presidency in November 2011 under pressure from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), neither the GCC, the UNSC nor indeed the Yemeni people were able to force him out of the country. He remained in Yemen as a major force subverting the transitional process.

What’s REALLY Going On In Yemen?

Confused about the war in Yemen?

    Here’s what’s really going on …

Yemen – previously called “Aden” – has one of the oldest civilizations in the Middle East. But it has been racked with violence for a long time.

In the 1960s, a pro-Arab nationalist faction clashed with the British – who wanted Yemen to become a Western-controlled natural resource hub – and devolved into brutal fighting, with both sides using terrorism.

Yemen’s first president – Saleh – was in power from 1990 to 2012. The U.S supported Saleh, but Saleh was a double-dealing scoundrel.

The Arab Spring protests ousted Saleh, and America helped broker immunity for prosecution in return for his leaving office.

Saleh was corrupt and tyrannical. As the Telegraph reports:

The pun belongs to Greg Gutfeld on The Five. You are correct that the Arabs finally tried that fighting thing on their own. It like when they asked Sadat how good the Egyptian army was and he replied that no one knew because they had only fought other Arabs.

The idea that this should go to the UN is nuts. It is also nuts to say that Obama favors the Saudis when he clearly favors Iran and is helping Iran build a nuclear bomb. Of course, John Kerry should be called the father of the Middle East nuclear war because he is too demented to resign, favoring a place in history alongside Ribbentrop.

It's a good thing you're special and don't have to prove your many claims.
