Thanks for asking. Cuba is in a state of collapse because their lifeline is 100,000 barrels of oil per day from Venezuela, a state that many think that Cuba more or less controls. As you know that lifeline has diminished in value. (By the way, Venezuela is also in dire economic straits.)

Now the Democrats want to throw another lifeline to Cuba at the impetus of companies such as Cargill in the form of a taxpayer-funded subsidy so that the corporations can "sell" to Cuba and the taxpayers pay the bill. Cuba can buy whatever she wishes since the days of George W. Bush (at least) if she pays cash. Cuba has never paid any credit extended them to any other country in the world.

Cuba is like North Korea, that is, it is a communist state where the leaders are very wealthy and the common people are near starvation. Giving the leadership of either North Korea or Cuba more money, will not improve the living conditions of the common people.

Frankly, we do not have the money to give to Cuba. The libertarians at Cato Institute got caught using an evaluation of Cuban terrorism that was later demonstrated to have been prepared by a Cuban spy. Stossel tried to broadcast the Cato Institute error but even he had to delete that portion when exposed by Cuban dissident leader Humberto Fontova.

Why does America have a love affair with Che, Fidel, and Raul? They have a lily white government in Cuba but the 300 prisons on the map above are mostly Afro-Cuban. Cuba is 70% Afro-Cuban from the days of slavery but both Fidel and Che were total racists.

Paleo-cons are out of it when it comes to human rights. I don't even think the GOP wants paleo-cons in the party. Paleo-cons use the liberal technique of trying to make moral equivalency to everything in spite of an overwhelming lack of evidence. Paleo-cons should keep their time and money--no one wants them.
