-Hillary Clinton: ‘Religious Beliefs Have to Be Changed’ Toward Abortion

On Thursday Hillary Clinton, in an address to the sixth annual Women in The World Summit, proposed that religious beliefs opposing abortion needed to be changed:

“Far too many women are denied access to reproductive health care and safe childbirth, and laws don’t count for much if they’re not enforced. Rights have to exist in practice — not just on paper.

Laws have to be backed up with resources and political will. And deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed.” …

Abortion was not specifically mentioned. That word was added by the headline writer.

Furthermore, abortion is legal in the US so she probably wasn't alluding to it. Especially in light of the fact she was speaking at a world summit.

I interpreted her remarks as applying to African nations (cultural changes needed) and the Muslim world (religious changes needed.)

Unless the writer is saying abortion services and reproductive health services are lacking in the US...

[Also noticed there is no link to the news story.]

Oh puh-leeze. There are plenty of reasons to loathe Hillary, we don't need to be making up stuff to add to the list.

For starters, the Muslim belief that women are second class citizens and have to ask their husbands for permission to do anything. I'm sure there are specific Sharia Law requirements on birth control that I'm missing.

Clinton: 'Deep-seated' beliefs block abortion access

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Thursday said "deep-seated … religious beliefs" have to be changed before the world's women will get full access to abortion.

“Far too many women are still denied critical access to reproductive health care and safe childbirth. All the laws we've passed don’t count for much if they’re not enforced,” Clinton said.

“Rights have to exist in practice — not just on paper,” Clinton argued. “Laws have to be backed up with resources and political will."

“And deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed,” Clinton added.
Clinton’s remarks came during the sixth annual Women in The World Summit in New York. She also called on world leaders to speed up progress on women’s rights across the globe.

“As I have said and as I believe, the advancement of the full participation of women and girls in every aspect of their societies is the great unfinished business of the 21st century,” Clinton claimed.

“Not just for women but for everyone,” she added. “And not just in far away countries but right here in the United States.”

Hillary Clinton’s Plan to Change Your ‘Deep-Seated Cultural Codes, Religious Beliefs’

Former Secretary of State and current 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is on a mission and it has been completely ignored by the mainstream media.

Speaking at the sixth annual 2015 Women in the World Summit in New York recently, Clinton had a few choice things to say to the world. And even though the summit was about women, Clinton had another agenda which went mostly unreported.

Clinton, the proud recipient of the Margaret Sanger award in 2009, the award from none other than the “mother of eugenics,” now wants to change your “deep seated…religious beliefs” among other aspects of your culture, so that abortions will be available without interference from principles that shouldn’t matter.

“Rights have to exist in practice — not just on paper,” Clinton argued. “Laws have to be backed up with resources and political will … And deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed,” Clinton added.

Who in the world doesn't know that "reproductive health" includes abortion?

You're reaching, but I'll bite if you can...

Find me a quote where she specifically condemns muslim attitudes toward "reproductive health".

100% correct ITL. The OP and his accompanying minions just don't like her just as they don't like President Obama. So they will continue to make up stuff or agree with stuff that's made up just because it suits the narrative they want to sell.

Perhaps all these anti-abortion folks need to remember that Scripture speaks to what place liars will have in the lake of fire.

They won't. They don't care that they are bearing false witness. They just know that they don't like her because they don't want her to be another Democrat President. So in their wicked, unGodly worlds, it's okay to make stuff up even though she didn't say that.

Don't have to. I know Hillary and I know what she is talking about..."reproductive health care" AKA abortion. She said so.

If you want to deny it, it's up to you, but you are dead wrong.

Even if she's not, by some silly quirk, talking about abortion, do you think she should use the government to change peoples "religious beliefs? Do you think she can use government to change your "religious beliefs" about anything?

That's the real problem. She thinks that is within the power of the government, and should be.

This was a speech she gave at the World Summit. She's not talking about the US.

I have rules for people to get put in my killfile. Debate is not one of the infractions that will land someone in there.

When she says there are "deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed,” I presume she is talking about access to contraceptives, prenatal care, routine gynecological care, treatment of STD's, and yes, abortion. Also stopping the practice of forced marriages of female children and teens in Muslim culture (and subsequent births of babies to these teens), polygamy, and genital mutilation. Conservative Muslims oppose the use of any birth control, for example. Almost all Muslims oppose the pill, IUD's, vasectomies, tubal ligations, and hysterectomies.

I think it's safe to say that Clinton supports that part of ObamaCare that mandates contraceptive coverage, therefore whatever ObamaCare covers she would want this to happen in other countries.

The point is that "abortion" was not explicitly mentioned. She may have been speaking about it, but I think she was including these other issues as well.

I suppose one would have to watch the entire video or Google Clinton's stance on these things. I'm not up to it, are you?
