    BY ROB GARVER,
    The Fiscal Times
    April 20, 2015

A story in The New York Times over the weekend raised the possibility of a new arms race in the Middle East, as increased sectarian fighting and proxy wars in Yemen, Syria, and Iraq create new demand for advanced weapons and weapon systems.

The article pointed out, as others have, that the primary beneficiaries of the increased demand for planes, missile, tanks, and other military hardware will be U.S. military contractors – the Lockheed-Martins, General Atomics, and Boeings of the world. But the expected increase in orders from Middle Eastern countries looking to control jihadist groups like ISIS, and rebel groups such as Yemen’s Houthi tribe, will be more of an extension of a gravy train that’s already rolling than some sort of new start.

What part of "war is a racket" don't you get?

It's almost like this great American was a prophet:

Eisenhower warns us of the military industrial complex - 2:40

He was keenly aware of a grave danger to this country that few are listening to.

Actually they're privately owned, I was just messing with the hillbilly. When their listeria woes first hit I was on it like a chicken on a june bug but couldn't even find a ticker for them, cause there ain't one... :)

It's good for the economy that defense contractors are doing so well. They provide Americans with over 500,000 well paying jobs.

Can I join the neocon club now?

I don't exactly fit the profile, I'm not a Wilsonian progressive, a Russo-phobic cold warrior or a Zionist fanatic but I've studied their propaganda and read enough of their documents now that I could probably pull off a fair impression of one.

No it's not but evidently it's close enough for neocons.

Having a well paying job in the defense industry isn't in the spirit of Christ?

    In what way?

You're kind of behind the times Carpro.

There hasn't been a "defense" industry since we adopted the Bush doctrine of "pre emptive" strikes, regime change, and supporting Islamic terrorists and neo nazis as regime change agents.

It's probably more accurate to call it the "weapons" or "destruction" industry now.

Tell us Carpro, where's the insentive to "win" or end war when the windfall profits would end with the war?

Look at it this way peace and stability = less profit which = less jobs in the "weapons" industry. Or more jobs in industries that add value to society instead of the continuation of death and destruction.

Where's the incentive for even seeking peace and stability?
