Mike Huckabee made it official today--he's running for President.

I really liked him in 2008. I would have voted for him back then if I had the chance. Not too sure about his consumption tax idea, seems like it would be the biggest tax break in history for the wealthy, while the rest of us would end up paying more in taxes overall. He's got the social issues nailed. I don't know much about his foreign policy ideas.

He's likable, quick witted, and has a genuine friendliness about him. He's completely comfortable on TV and is a very effective communicator. Something the Republicans have not had since Reagan.

I hope he takes Iowa and South Carolina and shakes up the process. Anything to keep Jeb from gaining traction. If he can hold on through Super Tuesday (March 1st) and make it to March 8th he's got a real chance. There's a lot of southern states holding primaries on those two dates, a region where he should do well.

He's a big-government nanny stater. He's said he wants the nation on an exercise program.

To me, he represents the linguini-spined country club establishment inside the beltway mentality almost as much as Hillary does. An "I'm for limited government, until I'm not" type. I don't trust him.

Every good Baptist, regardless of Cal or Arm, should vote for this guy! He is the answer to what ails America! I am pleased to see him in the race! :flower:

Yea, right. If Israel gets a fart hung crossways we'll be in a war for Israel. He's the right wingnut interventionist from hell.

I liked him until I saw him on Kenneth Copeland's TV show doing bible studies. If he has no better judgment than to tie himself to one of the biggest false teachers in America, then he has no need to be the leader of America.

He isn't a serious candidate but he is campaigning for more exposure to the American public which nets him more gigs on TV where he really wants to be. Your friendly neighborhood pastor turned politician turned talk show host. Thats where the easy money is.

I noticed he didn't mention that in his announcement the other day.

Mike Huckabee - please, no!!!!! Yes, he is a Christian, but other than that - so what? Is that really some people's only qualification?

Yes, he's been the governor of Arkansas, but so has someone else we know and that didn't work either.

He just has always set my teeth on edge. He speaks WAY before he thinks and I don't find him credible.

Ben Carson has a better chance.

I do not trust Huckabee, for some of the same reasons already mentioned, and will not vote for him. And I consider myself to be a "good Baptist".

    Maurice Clemmons

...[Pulaski County Prosecuting Attorney Larry] Jegley cites numerous examples of Huckabee’s freeing felons who go on committing more crimes and wind up back in prison.

Maurice Clemmons received a 35-year sentence in the early 1990s for armed robbery and theft. His sentence was commuted in May 2000, and he was let out three months later.

The following March, Clemmons committed two armed robberies and other crimes and was sentenced to 10 years. You’d think they’d keep him locked up after that, but no: He was paroled last March and is now wanted for aggravated robbery....

[Nine years later] Maurice Clemmons, the 37-year-old Tacoma man being sought for questioning in the killing this morning of four Lakewood police officers, has a long criminal record punctuated by violence, erratic behavior and concerns about his mental health....

Wow, I did not expect so much negativity.

Here's the test. If it came down to Huckabee vs. Clinton, would you vote for Huckabee? Or would you write in someone else? Or not vote?

We're assuming no third or fourth party on the ballot ?

Let's say there are the usual third party candidates--Constitution, Green, and Libertarian.

Then it would be no problem for me to vote for neither.

Our presidential ballot usually has those three, along with d's & r's.

I voted for Gore in 2000, that was my last major part vote for any office.

I don't believe Huckabee is even a serious candidate. I don't know why he bothered. He'll be one of the first to bow out. He doesn't have the heart for it.

I'd vote for any Republican over Clinton.

Don't believe in tilting at windmills.
