    Thank you.

I had two uncles who were WW2 vets.

My father worked in a defense plant building bombers, and my mother worked sewing Army uniforms.

I still have some of my parents' ration coupons from that era.

All gave some, and some gave all.

My dad, an interpreter did an air drop into France behind the D-Day beach assault. He than fought in the Battle of the Bulge ... 101st Airborne. We all have something to be proud of.

FWIW, from 1972-1993 I was a member of a Baptist Church in Clarksville TN, which adjoins Ft. Campbell KY, the home of the 101st.

We had many members from the 101st (They still do!), some were still wearing their BDU's when they entered for Wednesday evening services.

One of our secretaries was/is married to an officer who is now a Lieutenant General and heads West Point.

When I was stationed at Ramstein Air Base (1967-1969), I had the opportunity to drive through Bastongne, and also to visit the cemetery in the Netherlands where many of the 101st's who tried to secure "A Bridge Too Far" are buried.

Maybe growing up not too far from Valley Forge and Washington's Crossing, PA, has something to do with my thoughts, concerns and prayers for those who serve in the military.

I know I am a day late and a dollar short, RD2, but thank you for the link. Made my day.

Our families last WWII vet is in hospice now. He was gravely wounded driving toward the expanding bulge with land mines to help stop the tank advance. He was left for dead on the battlefield. His parents, my grandparents, received a "we regret to inform you...." telegram. But, praise God, when they went to pick up his body, he was still alive and the French doctors saved not only his life but his legs.

I can imagine being in combat, but I never was. So I always have the urge to stand up when I meet someone who was.

    Thanks again.

That is a powerful testimony of how awesome our God is.
I think everyone on this forum should be reminded that nothing is impossible with God.

    And you are "welcome!"

If you "Google" "FDR's D Day Prayer," you'll find a rather interesting "prayer" that POTUS FDR broadcast on that day in June, 1944.

I'm also told that FDR autographed every Bible of every service person who was in the military until his on April 12, 1945. How "true" that might be is "subject to interpretation."

Please note that I'm not a charter member of the "Church of FDR." OTOH, even he apparently had some good notions about God and His Word.

    What say ye?

As a conservative, I look at FDR with a critical eye. For his 32-36 term I would say he was a poor President. For his 36-40 term he was pretty good. And truth demands that for his 40-44 term he ranks as one of the 6 greatest Presidents in our history.
