Dreams

I am not sure how responsible we are for at least some of our dreams. To be accountable for them, we must be able to control them.

My own personal guess is that, at least to some extent, dreams are part of the brain's 'resetting' process. Of course, I could be wrong.

 

I don't think so. I have very vivid dreams. Some of my dreams are recurrent dreams. Almost every night I pray to God that I please don't have "that dream" or a dream involving certain elements or actions (terror, lust, violence, etc.) Despite actively desiring NOT to have these dreams they do still happen.

Conversely, if I pray to have dreams about me witnessing, church revivals, or the Second Coming, I don't have those dreams.

As Rolf said, if we can't control our dreams how can we be held responsible for them?

Taken a bit further if someone were of the Calvinist persuasion, they would have to conclude that the content of their dreams are totally God's will.

I see no reason to think it means dreams. We are SLEEPING.
I do think we should pay attention to dreams, as they often do reflect, in some way, our thoughts. They take our hopes, fears, or things we have seen or read, and turn them into some weird things! Some may require us to take a bit of inventory to see what the trigger is, and make sure that is something we have under control in our waking hours.
During one phase in my life where nightmares were frequent, I used to listen to nice music or recorded books while falling asleep. They helped redirect dreams so they weren't scary ones. What you hear in your sleep can reay affect your dreams. If you are leaving your television on at night, make sure you know the programming. I had insane urges for salad and ended up buying a salad spinner, thanks to leaving it on infomercials! ROFL
Meds can affect them too. Lyrica gives me very vivid dreams. It is definitely interesting!
