    Since when did Jonathan Edwards or George Whitfield "lead" the First Great Awakening? Their "leadership" is seen only in hindsight.

    Ronnie is wrong as usual. What we need is God to be merciful and pour out His Spirit upon ALL of us ie believers and non-believers. God will then raise up the leaders amongst His people

    I would agree with the sentiment of this post with respect to Jonathan Edwards whose preaching and writings were amazing but more limited in effect in his own time. But Mr. Whitfield's contribution to the founding of this country, both spiritually and historically, are usually understated. I am really looking forward to meeting this one some day.

    Yes! My thought exactly.

    If a mere human being is "leading" the movement, it is not of God.

    When the Spirit works, the Spirit works through men and women, young and old, rich and poor, of any ethnic background, and with any level of education, to bring glory to God through the knowledge of Jesus.

    And awakenings happen not because of God raising up a leader, but through individuals deciding to be faithful to God in every part of their lives - then acting on it.

    Ronnie should know this. We went through a tremendous multi-year awakening in our church/city when he was pastoring my home church.

    Seems appropriate, apparently there is a lot of high quality "entertainment" on Daystar. 90% of the lineup appears to be a "who's who of heretics". Other than Adrian Rogers, WOTM, and Travel the Road I'd rather watch paint dry. I hope somehow the SBC meeting being televised does some good for regular Daystar watchers.

    Yeah, Dr. Floyd's TV show "Ronnie Floyd Winners" aired on Daystar. He cancelled the show and funneled the $$$ into the Cooperative Program instead. This boosted his church's giving % in the runup to his second try at securing the SBC Presidency.
