Have caught a few reruns of this show lately on local over the air retro network. I remember watching it some when it originally aired. For the most part the storylines are good, but the acting is horrible. Seems the characters are over acting (over dramatic and fake accents), regardless if she's solving a case in Texas, "down south", her home town, the big city, or internationally (she was in Ireland). The majority of the actors are not very convincing. There are a few washed up actors from the 60's 70's, and occassionally a few that have since gone on to fame, but for the most part the acting is questionable.

Sorry, just had to rant. I'm hoping at least Bro. Salty will respond to this thread since this is one of his areas of expertise.

The star of the show was nominated for an Emmy twelve years in a row.
I was at church when it was on, so never watched it.

Ms. Fletcher was a talented actor no doubt, but in the series she does come off as a bit nosey. :wavey:

At least it was a CLEAN show!
Cheesy, predictable, sure, but one that simply entertained and did not (to my recollection) try to shove some liberal version of social issues into every episode.

I liked the show. For a long time Angela Lansbury brought back memories of watching "Bedknobs and Broomsticks" as a kid. Then I saw "The Manchurian Candidate" where she played Raymond Shaw's evil...EVIL...mother (she was nominated for an Oscar for that part). Never saw Ms. Jessica Fletcher the same after that one.
