WORLD EXPLODES OVER DEAD LION, IGNORES PLANNED PARENTHOOD

On Tuesday, the world lost its collective mind – whatever is left of it, anyway – when media discovered the identity of the killer of a Zimbabwean named Cecil. Cecil is a lion. Cecil, a lion, was by most accounts “one of Africa’s most famous lions.” Cecil, incredibly, was famous for being a lion, not for curing cancer, although you wouldn’t know that by the media coverage.

    SNIP

Many of those particularly upset about the death of Cecil, a lion, are particularly upset over the fact that Jericho, the next lion in line, will presumably kill Cecil’s cubs. It may be the circle of life, but Jericho just can’t wait to be king, and our moral leaders can’t feel the love tonight.

These same moral leaders are decidedly unconcerned about the dictator of Cecil’s home country, Robert Mugabe, who oversaw the violent theft of white-owned land and has imprisoned and tortured his political opponents. They had nothing to say about Mugabe starving animals, including lions, all over his country, for years; they certainly have nothing to say about the fact that trophy hunting actually forwards preservation in many African nations.

They also have little to say about Zimbabwe’s humans, nearly one quarter of whom have been infected with HIV/AIDS, nearly 80 percent of whom are unemployed, 84 percent of whom risk contracting malaria, and most of whom will die under age 40.

    SNIP

The American media have spilled copious amounts of ink and spent enormous amounts of bandwidth ginning up the mob over the death of Cecil, a lion.

Meanwhile, the major media rush to ignore the fact that Democrats now force American taxpayers to foot the bill for hundreds of thousands of murders of babies by organizations including Planned Parenthood; the media believe that a dead lion ought to trump Planned Parenthood carving up murdered babies to sell their body parts, Mengele-style. Celebrities who weep over Cecil, a lion, cheer when women across the United States decide to suck their baby’s brains into a sink so that Planned Parenthood can distribute its kidneys for purposes of research.

Yeah, it's just sad when they go on and on about some lion in Africa and just ignore the PP scandal (and many other problems):

They are probably frantically trying to tie the lion and the dentist to Donald Trump right now.

    "Cecil was 13 years old.

So too was Anthony Diaz, killed in gang warfare in Chicago in February. You haven’t heard Anthony Diaz’s name, because he was a Hispanic kid killed for posting on Facebook. He wasn’t a lion.

Neither are the seven people murdered in Chicago last weekend.

Neither are the people who will be targeted in Los Angeles in a gang contest in which members seek to target 100 innocents for death in 100 days. "

Really lives of humans should always trump lives of animals no matter what. No matter how heinous the lion was killed.

The Bible tells us that in the end times people will place their minds and hopes on things of little value, I guess that is unborn children!

Granted, I am mad about this guy shooting a lion, and I hope he is ordered to return to Africa and stand charges there! that is what he deserves. But people have put their priorities in the wrong order, and that is a real tragedy.

I'm pro life as are most people on this board. Just about any deplorable thing that happens in the world may be compared to the abortion and found to be nowhere near as terrible as the taking of an innocent fetus. It's a false equivalency.

Now the rest of the story that Carpro left out.

The lion lived in a wildlife preserve and was collared with radio transmitters for study. The sick part about the lion killing is the hunters lured it out of the wildlife preserve with a bloody carcass mounted on a vehicle, driving the vehicle so the lion followed it. Once the lion was out of the preserve it was shot, but not killed, with a bow and arrow. The bleeding lion was then tracked for 40 hours, eventually it was killed with a gunshot. The lion's head and pelt was found days later when researchers noted the GPS unit showed the lion had been stationary for many hours.

So apparently the lion was killed for its meat and the hunters didn't care if authorities knew it since they left the pelt and head along with the GPS collar in the wild.

The bow hunter that killed the lion is a dentist whose office is about a mile from my house. Last night I drove past the office and there were protestors and TV satellite trucks all over the place. Someone had put a large sign on the door, "ROT IN HELL". I thought that was a bit over-the-top.

The lion and abortion are good and appropriate comparisons. When the death of animals are more abhorrent than the death of people we have lost our way.

Oh, I do see a link, but the way this lion was killed was despicable, and deserved the attention the story is getting.

From what I read, the dentist did nothing wrong. He had all the right permits, and went through the proper procedures. This is the responsibility of his outfitters.

And the abortion comparison is a good one. The PP scandal needs a dead lion or two. It will serve them quite well.

He had to know the outfitters were basically "chumming" the lion to get him to leave the wildlife sanctuary. Plus, the dentist has been busted twice before for hunting and fishing violations. I've never hunted lion, but is it considered legal or even good hunting etiquette to leave the pelt and head in the middle of the jungle?

I guess it would all depend on if it was private or public land, farmed or wild animals…etc. I've watched and waited all day for a herd of elk cow to move onto land where I could legally shoot them. I didn't leave any bait, but I did hide by some blueberry bushes, or by a source of water. I would consider it all moral.

I've read some unconfirmed reports that the doctor (I believe he's a dentist, but not sure.) has apologized for killing the lion.

If so, that's fine with me. Maybe he should apologize.

OTOH, I'm not holding my breath waiting for PP (or its lackies) to apologize for murdering all those innocent babies.

Nor do I believe that any of our politicians who vote for, or do nothing to stop, legislation that keeps our hard-earned tax dollars from going to the murderous PP and/or its cronies to continue their evil practices of killing babies even before they're born.

These murderers should be sent to prison for the rest of their lives for FIRST DEGREE MURDER! It's FIRST DEGREE MURDER because they knew exactly who they were about to kill! More than likely they got paid to kill these babies from "somebody," which makes those "somebodies" guilty of contributing to the willful death of people who aren't even born, thus had no possible way to defend themselves!

Seems like there's a whole lot of people guilty of FIRST-DEGREE FELONY VIOLATIONS, doesn't it?

Will these guilty parties ever be punished for their murderous deeds?

Maybe not in this life, but one day they will be punished by the righteous Judge of All Mankind!

I wouldn't like to be charged of willingly violating the 7th Commandment (Ex. 20:13, Rom. 13:9b, et.al.) when I face the One who created me and sent His Son to die for my sins, and I don't think you would either.

Moreover, I hold other people guilty for allowing the mother to kill her unborn child:

    1) Why did her parents/guardians not take the time to train her not to allow herself to get pregnant in the first place?

I know that there's rape, but most abortions aren't caused by a woman being raped--only a small % of women asking for an abortion were rape victims.

    2) Even if the woman was raped, why did she allow herself to be put in a position to be raped?

Yes, there's situations where she might not have been able to prevent a man from violating her body--but these are few relatively uncommon in most places in modern-day America.

If a woman's old enough to conceive, then it ought be up to her parents/guardians to train her to defend herself. Most communities have law-enforcement-provided classes that'll train them in the various ways of self-defense, be it by martial arts or training her in small arms marksmanship, or both.

If she's trained in advance, the odds of her being attacked will be greatly reduced.

    3) And what about the man who attacked her? Even if he didn't grow up in a Bible-based family, somebody certainly failed to train him to respect women! It doesn't have to be a preacher, youth worker to do this--although most of them probably would be a good person to help guide this young man in the absence of his own father.

But,the real responsibility lies with the parents, especially the father. Deuteronomy 6:5-7 is addressed to the "head of the home," the father. Even if the father isn't a saved man, it's still his responsibility before his Creator. Proverbs is filled with advice that a father ought to take time to instill in his young son's heart and mind.

Trouble is, many times the father isn't there to train up his son "in the way he should go."

    Who's fault is that?

It's STILL the father's fault--but I also blame our government for not demanding the father to take up his responsibility to "be there for his children." Our current welfare system is such that it rewards absentee fathers for not legally marrying the woman he made pregnant.

While a mother can do some things to help guide her young son--and praise God for the mothers (over-worked and under-appreciated as many of them are) who do their best to "stand in the gap" for their sons--it's STILL THE FATHER that a young son will more readily heed than his mother--that's the way God made boys.

Summarizing, we've gone way too far from the Bible's directives on how we, as His creations, ought to be.

It's time we repent and pray to God that He'll heal our land. I seriously doubt He'll do much for us as a nation until WE do what His Word tells us we should.

Brother, you really didn't just say that, did you?

It's like with a child molester. We used to tell ourselves and our children that beware of "stranger danger" and a child molester will be the "Boogie Man" in a dark trench coat. We know that's not the case today.

Rape is no different. So many rape victims KNOW their attackers in some way, shape, or form. A rapist is not the creepy stranger in a ski mask breaking in your window. He's someone many of his victims know and even have a relationship of some sort with.

You're becoming real fond of that term, but you're off base this time.

They're not equivalent at all and the entire point of the article is to point that out.

It's about the media intentionally ignoring the gruesome and inhumane actions of people selling baby body parts for profit and plastering a dead lion all over every available surface. Which one really should be leading the news?

It's about people like you trying to make it make sense.

It doesn't and it never will. It's all about ideology and their ideology says lions count and babies don't.

I don't believe yours does. Why you're trying to minimize selling baby body parts in favor of a dead lion is beyond me. You really shouldn't even be trying.

    1. This is the first time I've used the term "false equivalency" in my life.

    2. You insinuate that I favor lions over babies. That is a terrible slander and I await your apology.

    3. I'm not trying to minimize selling baby body parts. I've said nothing about them or Planned Parenthood. For the record, abortion if far, far more despicable than killing a lion. I guess your reading comprehension is lacking because I said that even trying to compare aborted fetuses to dead lions is a failed analogy because the dead lion comes nowhere near the tragedy of abortion.
